hi all i have some subs and an amp from my previous cars which may get put into the vrs as the bass is woeful.

question is on the symphony head unit are there pre outs that i can use to power my amp that will eventually get installed in the boot?

if not how have other owners got to audio feed to there amps

No idea mate - Not my bag I'm afraid.

The HU output is simply Audio, I would think how you wire your sub is entirely up to you and the instructions with the sub.

they were pro installed in my mr2 years ago. never had instructions. think i may have to go down double din dvd player with preouts already there so i can run the amp straight out of it.

I 100% recommend replacing the headunit and standared speakers. They are almost as bad as what came in a D reg Volvo 240 (only time I've ever felt seasick in a car) I once had. The Skoda OEM audio comes mighty close.

As mentioned in the thread, I've installed a Pioneer TS-WX11A in the passenger footwell. Although it snugs up into the gap quite well, it can still be seen a bit from outside. When I park I put the mat over it.

As for the sound

The Infinities sound immensly better than the standars speakers, but the bass was truly poor (almost non existant). The door pods are dreadful.

Dynamatting the doors and trying to seal the pods may work, but I have delegated all bass producing duties to what is the smallest active sub I've ever bought.

The results? I am chuffed. It sounds respectable again. The music now has some power behind it, when before it sounded totally feeble. Rage against the Machine went in the player and the smile returned to my face.

Whatever you do though, don't ask where I'm drawing the Amp's power from. I don't want to risk being labelled a lunatic!

As stu has pointed out theirs a front and rear pre out on the hu. I bought the blacpunk lead. The lead also inc the amp remote power cable.

You would then get some phono cables (rca) for the pre outs and run them to your amp. Also will need a power cable for the remote switch. Think you only need a 5amp rated cable. Next you'll need a power cable from the + on the battery. Min 8 gauge (think thats good for a 40amp amp) You'll also need a negative power cable. I fitted mine to the rear seat belts under the rear seat. Just undo the bolt, remove some paint.

As for how to wire the subs you'll need to look at the spec on the amp (how many channels and power per channel) and also the olms of the subs.

preouts are easy enough. i was wondering how to wire them up if i did not change the headunit ie drawing the audio sound off stock wires to the sub.
