Featured Replies

probably been asked then thrashed about a thousand times i have plans to change the discs on the vrs to drilled/grooved or both . what is the genaral feeling for this mod?

also finding it hard to find a decent stockist here in ireland with knowledge some say thats its the same set on golf 4 gti .. is this true? my car is probably one of the last octy vrs weighing in at being regd april 05

black diamond seem to look good on paper but pricey but quality never comes cheap!!

car does about twenty miles a day by the wife never getting over 50 mph , i take it for a blast sat/sun never going below 50 ha

so setup will need to be apropriate for both ..fast road maybe ???????

many thanks guys and thanks for the welcome back.. you know who you are

hi Mgpd

I have EBC drilled and grooved disc's on the front of my Octy VRS i like them defo improve the Braking......im running Green-stuff pads all round and hi heat disc's on the back....micks garage.ie is were i got them they were great rang them ordered them got them 4 days later.......cross drills and grooved cast round 300 for the front disc'c Ireland's largest Car Parts and Used Cars website

I have the zimmerman cross drilled discs on mine, cant say i have noticed any improvement in braking but they look good!

No cracks or warping to report as yet and they are given a hard time quite often

A good tried and tested combo is DS2500 pads (which i use on trackdays ;)) and Black Diamond discs which i just couldnt stretch to

Can I piggy back a tech query on this, which might help the OP too.

What's the best combination of grooved and/or cross-drilled for better water dispersion? I know grooved (and theoretically x-drilled) have an effect on gas fading, and that is not what I'm asking.

have a looksee on ebay you can get front and rears for 147quid all in. i will be getting them when i need new discs. at the moment a shed is top priority so im told by her indoors :-(

a shed = large garage for working on the car in the rain :-)

I just need to order the flooring for the roof space of my garage and my car can go back to living inside in the dry and warm :-)

id say grooved as the water can still escape even when the pads are in contact with the discs
