Unlock your BT Home Hub to use with another ISP

Featured Replies

I wouldn't mind particularly, it's part of a contract after all - if it actually worked properly and reliably....

Steve

Ive just flashed my sky/netgear to the latest dgteam firmware.. not much to report yet, although apparently upnp and static firewall routes dont work properly... and ive hacked the homehub to bits and am using it as an extra AP in the loft to combat nextdoors all-interfearing belkin MIMO jobby

What is the score with this?

At least the home hub and livebox get their firmware updated. I cant see Sky (et al) can do this with standard routers?

Yet apparently updating the firmware isnt allowed with Sky.

Hi all,

Ive tried to unlock my BT Hub. Evrything had gone well until I clicked Next button after choosing ZZMMYAA6.196.bin file.

Following error msg come out:

Authentication failed.

Please restart the wizard and enter user name and password.

Problem is I forgot my Home Hub password and reset it to defaults. And I have chosen admin55 as a new password. I am not allowed to choose admin as a new password I dnt know why.

Also, I can go through my hub using internet explorer 192.168.1.254 using the login name and pass. No problem.

Any advice on it, please

DG

I would try doing a factory reset (holding the reset button on the hub for a few seconds) the default password is usually written on the hub itself..

Have we turned into the de facto place to come asking questions about unlocking routers?!

Hi

I did reset to defaults as you said. No password is written on the hub. But hub forced me to reset the password manually as soon as I connect to the hub using internet explorer entering 192.168.1.254. "admin" is not allowed for a new password.
