help me install cruise control in my new octavia

Featured Replies

Hello, friends.

I come from china. I bought a new octavia 1.8TFSI last month.

unfortunately, Skoda in china didnot offer the Cruise control System, but the funny things is that the Skoda Octavia manual said the car have cruise control system.

I need this function. i brought the cruise control part from the internet, part No.1K0 953 513 A. Now, the part was installed. I need a vas-com to activate the

function. can someone here tell me howto?

I have vas-5053. or 5051B.

Does VAS not have guided functions?

You'll need to enable the cruise in Controller 01 - change the long coding if the ECU is the same as the 2.0TFSi.

You also need to recode the Steering Controller.

ok, i will try. but i have no experience in using VAS.

i heard that the VAS version is important. someone said that VAS-5051B can not enable the function.

i agree that ECU of the 2.0TFSi should be the same as the ECU in 1,8TFSi. who can tell the version of VAS using in 2.0TFSI?

by the way, change the long coding? can u tell the detail?or give me more information about it. thanks.

It depends if you are using VAS or VAG-COM.

I'm not familier with what can be done with the different versions of VAS but I do know how to do it with VAG-COM.

Does it mean that if i get CAN-BUS cable and download the VAS-5053 software, you can tell me the detail step by step?

do you have a successful case in retrofiting the curise control system in new octavia?

No, it means if you get a CANBUS capable cable the the genuine RossTech VAG-COM software I can tell you.

You will also need to confirm that you have the correct steering controller to make the new stalk work.

do you have a successful case in retrofiting the curise control system in new octavia?

I may have one or two installations under my belt, yes. ;)

Perhaps you should click the link in my signature to clarify things a little.

Yes, I know all steps are important.

first, i bought a steering controller, it looks the same as the controller in Fabia-vrs.com - Cruise Control Installation Service

the controller number is 1K0 953 513 A 9B9; is it a correct steering controller?

it can also be installed in the VW Sagitar. I install it in my new octavia and Every function is ok except the cruise.

Is the first step above ok?

Second, The CAN-BUS cable i have and VAS-5053 i download can successfully enable the cruise control in VW Sagitar and Touran.

What is the version of your RossTech VAG-COM?

How to go on?

That is the Cruise Control stalk part number, the steering controller is a different part.

I don't know what a VW Sagitar is but if you've done a Touran you ought to be able to do an Octavia. Is the Touran a diesel?

  • Author

ok, then what is the steering controller?

is it a object? what does it look like?

In china, Touran is gasoline engine. 1.8T and 2.0L.

VW Sagitar = Volkswagen Sagitar, i think that Sagitar is new name of Jetta in China.

Controller 16 in diagnostics and look at the part number. It will be something like 1K0 953 549 and the letters.

do i miss the steering controller?

do you have a picture about the steering controller?

If you fitted the stalk you would have removed it to install the stalk. It's in the steering column.

If you use your diagnostics software to login to Controller 16 as I said above you can read off the part number.

is it a new octavia or octavia II?

It is both. In the UK it is known as Octavia II, these forums call it new Octavia.

If thats your car in those pictures, its very nice. I like the silver ashtray and gear surround. I wonder if its possible to get those here.

ok, my car is octavia II, as you see in the frist picture, no curise control. i deeply hope that you can help me. and ......i can not fly to UK.

This is my new stalk. is it the correct stalk?

every thing is good except no cruise control system:(

why u want to get those? no new octavia in your city?

Yes that is the right part. If you want help you have to listen to what I say though.

You need to know which steering control unit is fitted to your car, not the stalk but the black box under the steering column that you plugged the stalk into.

The easiest way to do this is to use the diagnostics software that you used to enable the cruise control to tell you which part number yours is.

I don't think I can make it much clearer than this -

If you can't fly to the UK, surely the decent thing would be for you to fly VRStu to China to do the job as a home call? :)

Now there is an idea.

Cool! U can enjoy chinese food. but i prefer to package myself to UK by DHL.

ok, i am trying to use the diagnostics software to read the VAG number of my steering control unit.

But that wouldn't fix your car would it. :P

Anyway, you are my hope. :)

The number i red off is 1K0 953 549 AG. Ok, what is the next step?

I cannot find any information to say whether an AG unit is suitable for Cruise Control, it simply says replace with 1K0 953 549 AK.

Can you get into the screen that you use for coding the controller and send me a screen shot.
