Got Flashed

Featured Replies

Got 47 mpg on this run Yarmouth and back , between Norwich and Cambridge somewhere, unlit dual carriageway at night.

Saw the lines on the road ( too late ) but not the camera.

:(. AAARRGGGHHH.

Another 14 days to sweat before I find out.

Got a clean licence as well. .

How inaccurate is the speedo?

Generally used to be 10% high I heard

'UnOfficial' speeding tolerance at 70 is + 10% +2mph ( Ive just read, cant find the link now )= 79mph.

How inaccurate is the felicia speedo ?

Speedo reading at real 79mph anyone ?

Methinks time to invest in a Talex or a SatNav with speed camera database

your speedo will be 5% out, but the cameras are set up normally to a minimuim of 10% +2mph before the flash flash.

I think i too might have a nice bill to collect those 3 points tonight, came into 50 limit on m4 and guess what road angel missed but pgp database and talex did get when it was to late :( slowed right down through the next two so hopefully my average did equal out to 50 but at this time of night i just wanted to get home (and you cant see them up there in the dark either).

thats bit gutting

did it flash once or twice?

Twice , maybe got someone else as well, or instead of me ?

The speed limit + 10% +2mph is correct.

According to my 'safety' camera detector, when my speedo says 50 i'm actually going at 48mph

2 down from 50, 4% then. 4% of ( where's me calculator ) 79 = 3 approx, so 82 on, on yer speedo. and ........:thumbdwn:

Yer well , cruise at 80, (no, no, wouldnt do that).

Actually I did hear from 2 coppers, and a magistrate, 30yrs ago, the real limit was 85 , not 79. :)

A long time ago.

I don't know anyone in those circles now.

Any one in 'the law' who dares to open their mouths here, ( with the truth ) ?

the Association of Chief Police Officers Speed Enforcement Guidelines suggests my quoted speeds at which enforcement action is taken, and at which cases should be referred for court action. But the ACPO Guidelines note emphasises that policy is for individual police forces' discretion, and that exceptional circumstances may apply to individual cases:

Department for Transport - Graduated fixed penalties for speeding offences - Discussion note

At least you care about your speeding ticket... i was in preston a few days ago on the road leading into it which is a 30 and littered with speed cameras and in the distance in front of me i saw two flashes and saw these 2 bright HID headlights hurtling towards me and it was some old rich bloke in a brand new Rolls Royce Phantom... must have been doing AT LEAST 60+.

Its peoaple like that that really **** me off as they really take the p' with it!!!

And then us the general motorist get the same penalty for doing just a few miles over the limit on a motorway!

Good luck with sorting it out any way.

How fast were you going according to your speedo?

I got done doing 68mph in a 60 which was borderline but Cumbria Police decided to do me anyway back in 2004.

Aldi have the cheapest GPS speed camera i have seen. My brother bought one for 39.99 (or was it 49.99?) and he said it is excellent. He needs one though as he drives a Alfa GTV V6 3.0 24v. Nice motor with awesome noise.:P

Have seen those units in there before and have comtemplated buying one a few times... sometimes they dont have them in though...

And yes to the Alfa's sound... had one pass me today and it sounded awesome as he floored it....

Inforad ones are good. I have one sat in my garage at the moment (I feel the best way to avoid a speeding offence is to not speed.... and I ride a bike too - strange, eh?). I have spoken to Inforad and you can change ownership of the unit for a nominal fee. Anyone care to make me an offer? Maybe
