Unfortunatly unless the insurance companies had someone to come and live with you for a week there is no way they can really tell how well you treat your car and how you drive

They should recruit Swedish blondes specifically for the job......either that or lots of clones of Lucy Pindar and send them out with clipboards to asess the nations driving ability.

I'd happily put them up. :D

Car insurance companies are rip off b*stards, they put my mums car insurance up when someone crashed into her! Seemly she is more at risk of being crashed into (wtf, sitting waiting at a roundabout and some fandan flies into the back of her :S)

Some insurance companies however dont charge for cosmetic mods, call around :D

Im 20 with a previous ban, all mods declared and im paying

Doesn't surprise me one bit - it's all to do with statistics, you're now in a higher risk category and therefore they need to up your premium so they can take their 10% profit each year and so on.

There's no other way the insurance can handle it - they can't predict anything so they just blindly stick you in a category no matter how safe you are. A pain in the *** but not surprising.

As for houses, it;s a bit different - you can't really cause much damage or kill a 3rd party with a house. that's the biggest cost of car insurance - insuring in case you cripple someone on the road. That's also why the cost of the car really doesn't come into play either.

As an aside, I've been pleased with Highways insurance (from Adrian Flux). They only charge extra for performance mods. Suspension, brakes, wheels, bodykit just need to be declared. Superb.
