Arghh! - Local Dealer won't tell me when it's coming!

Featured Replies

I placed an order for my octy vrs towards the end of the June and was told at the end of july it had been dispatched and would be 2-3 weeks.

I phoned today for an update and was told actually it will be 'september'. When I asked for a specific date or at least a week, was told 'Dunno, sometime in September - can't check cause the sales manager is on holiday'

As they are clearly useless or disinterested, is there another way to check the eta for my car?

You could try phoning Skoda UK direct. If you explain the situation, I am sure they will help one way or another ie they might ring the delaer and tell them to sort themselves out.

I presume your dealer is snowed under to deal with a current customer - not a good start!

Could be the dealer is snowed under, after all he will also be taking delivery of the cars needed for the 57 reg in a couple of weeks. It might work in your favour come resale as a 57 reg will be worth more than an 07 reg, even though there is only 2 weeks in it.

Well I guess they are not selling any at the moment either if the sales guy is not there, let SUK know that too when you call.

cool cheers - called skoda who said they'd buzz the dealer and get things straightened out. Apparently skoda insist that there has to be someone in the dealership during opening ours who knows how to look things up on VOT, although the dealership claims only the sales mgr can do that

I don't mind either way if it is or isn't going to be sept. Just want to know so I know where I stand re: insuring my car etc.

That's either laziness or simply understaffed. They'd soon be on the phone to you if you told them you didn't want the car.

Typical delivery time seems to be 12 weeks.

From 'the end of June' that will put you to week starting Monday 17th September.

You really dont want a late 07 plate.

Be patient, and get it on a 57 - EVEN if it arrives early!

Can relate to this thread!

Ordered Vrs at the end of May as my replacement company vehicle. As I had thrown some extras in, they did not have one to my spec hanging around anywhere.

I was told end of Aug delivery, which was fine as I am not worried about being 07 or 57 reg. As the time is approaching, I checked with the supplying stealer today to firm up a date.

Following much scratching of heads as to who had the authority to check with Skoda, I am now informed that it will be mid October!

Must be popular, these Octy thingies!

That's very true, but that doesn't excuse yet another case of incompetance.

If i'd been told mid september when I ordered it, I wouldn't mind - wouldn't have made a difference to me buying the car or anything - I just object to being misled by the dealer on a couple of occasions - and it's pretty shortsighted of them as well, because I'm not likely to use them again in the future - I'd just find another dealer!

Finally - I get my hands on it on 3rd Sept. So not as bad as expected.

More to do with the factory shut down ahead of the new model year being startd.

I've still got ages to wait.... Build date is end of first week in September. Will probably have been around a 10 week wait in the end.
