Headlights always on (Fabia VRS)

Featured Replies

I have an odd problem with my Fabia VRS I noticed today that the headlights now come on when I switch on the ignition, regardless of the what the switch is set to. I am pressuming this is an electrical fault, unless I have accidently activated this somehow.

Anyone any ideas.

No, its not an electrical fault. the dealer demonstrator i drove had this too.

i presume its a controllable feature.. as some EU countrys its law to have "driving lights" - apparently this is why volvos always have lights on in the middle of the day

That does make sense, however how do I turn it off?

Also I talked to a Skoda dealer & he felt it was a problem not a setting. Could be a VRS thing though, that he is not aware of.

Sounds like the switch is flakey, not uncommon on VAG cars.

Wasn't there some legislation pending about daylight running lights being required in EU countries? Scandinavia requires headlights on all the time.

Perhaps there is a fuse somewhere that controls this?

I know of a how to guide to sort this give me a mo and i will try to find it-

Found it on a Canadian VW Forum here you go-

Remove the headlight switch by pushing in on the knob and turning clockwise at the same time, this should release the switch. Now unplug the harness from the switch.

Locate the 'TFL' pin on the headlight switch. Once located, place a very small cut piece of electrical tape over that pin - cover the whole pin with this one piece of tape.

Plug the harness back into the switch and put it back in the dash, to lock the switch back into place push it all the way back in and then continue to turn it clockwise, the switch will then lock back in place.

If you hate daytime running lights as much as i do, then you'll love this. took me about 1.5 mins.

Thanks for the fix Alex.

The odd thing is that I am reasonably sure it didn't do this originally.

No, and it shouldnt for this country.

Get ur dealer to sort it.
