My Skoda Cabrio

Featured Replies

This is my car.

Its a 1985 Skoda Rapid Cabrio, which I bought in May after seeing it for sale on the Sko-forum. My husband took me down to Ipswich to collect it.

As you can see it is VERY Yellow, but I like it. It is fitted with a 135 engine from a later Favorit, which also has a single box sports exhaust (with a horrible twin upswept DTM tailpipe). It has lowered suspension and Spax shox and a set of 15" Empis.

A couple of days later it looked like this

Work started on the drivers side sill as there was a hole in it.

There will be some more pics to follow shortly as we have now fitted slighly different wheels and its had a wash, it is all ready for its MoT so fingers crossed it will be back on the road for bank holiday weekend. (I BET IT RAINS THOUGH)

Good work!

Looks like you've given a scrapyard worthy car a lot more life yet.

A lot of people would have thought a car like this would only be fit for a scrapyard, but they wouldn't realise just how rare these Cabrios are, there are approx 20 Cabrios left on the road.

You'll have to bring her along to a Briskoda meet some time.

Does hubby work in the trade, as he seemed to have all the gear to hand to perform the sill replacement?

Looks lovely, great to know it's being kept running! My guess is hubby works or used to work for Volvo :D

I've just spotted the red one as well. :D You'll have to bring BOTH along to a show. Don't live closeish to Silverstone do you? And free on 2nd Sept? ;)

We're a couple of hours from Silverstone, but we dont mind travelling, the red 1 is off road at the moment (possibly for sale along with a beige 1).

Whats on at Silverstone 2nd Sept?

And yes, the husband does work for Volvo, not the crappy car side though, the Truck and Bus department

TRAX carshow. See my sig for info. Would be good if the cabrio was roadworthy for that time.

Trax, it is a modified car show. Quite a laugh if last year is anything to go by.

There is a link in Devonutopia's sig.

Would be lovely to see the car in the metal

Would actually be nice to drive the car rather than look at it sat on drive everyday...

am nagging hubby to get it done... so fingers crossed:nutkick: :whip:

There is obvious signs of very hard work there!!

Its always good to see a cabrio as you say due to their rarity.

Love to see some more pics after a good clean.

Well done

It's nice to see ANY rare care up and running.

I hope it's loved and taken care of when it's mobile:thumbup:

( shame about the colour though:P )

I cant wait to see you out cruising in this Chelle.

Good to see another rare Skud saved.

Car's looking good (well better, IMO they always looked good as long as you didn't want a full (as in frame and pillarless) convertable.

Jeezo, didnt even know they made these, i havnt seen any sort of rapid for about 3 years now!

I've nevver seen one of those before. Quite SAAB ish from the rear. Nice car hope you get it sorted.

Don't know why but this picture popped into me heed

Looking good , and I think the colour suits it! I dont suppose its a stock colour though? I remember the road test of this on Top Gear , am showing my age now! PS did anyone who visited the Harewood House VW Festival notice the White Rapid cabrio tucked in amongst the Vee Dubs? It was a C reg as well...

All ready for its MoT and a respray, this will be a stunning car shortly.

Looking very clean even with all the primer.

911 engine in the back, and it will be a right minter. ;)

Are those wheels from a VW Beetle , Ive seen Bugs with old Skoda wheels on , so are they a direct fit?
