Lambda probe connector problem

Featured Replies

Hi

The Lambda probe between the engine and the catalysator is defective and has to be replaced.

My car is a Fabia 1.4 MPI 8V, from 2001 with a 50 KW AQW-engine.

The problem is that the connector has 6 pins (2 rows with 3 in each)!!

I have talked to BOSCH and they can only deliver 4 pin probes in 1 row.

Has any of you eksperienced the same problems? And what to do about it?

A four pin lambda probe would be a plainer probe.

The six pin (actually five connections as one pin is linked around inside) is a broadband probe (wider range).

I would recommend getting a genuine probe from a VAG outlet.

Hi Lummox.

Sounds like a good idea. Do you have any links to websites i can order from?

Im from Denmark.

Funny though....BOSCH claims that they are the ones who delivers the genuine probes to Skoda.

And if they cant deliver the genuine 6-pin (5-pin) one then who can?

By the way I got the number for the BOSCH probe (4-pin) from BOSCH :

0258007068.

Perhaps you can verify that the number is the right one?

A four pin probe would be after the cat, six pin is before the cat.

Lambda probe faults seem pretty common on VW's - I had a Bora a couple of years back which had a faulty lambda probe - the guy who I bought it off said that the 'check' light that was on on the dash just meant it needed a service - but I didn't believe him. Strangely, the car was giving me better fuel economy when the light was on, but after the probe was replaced, the economy got worse!
