Hmm, where is the handsfree kit?

Came with earphones. Plus, it will be more likely my passengers will use it to talk to passengers in other cars. :P

you can get some 5km range ones these days, i just have a trusty bt 3km one (the range are in optimuim conditions with no buildings in the way or internference).

Thinking about the average cb (in the days) struggled to 3 miles unless run on a booster. Also dont need a licence like cb's either, not that that ever affected anything in a car ;)

BTW if i have mine on its usually sat on channel 4 ;)

I bet these will struggle to do half a mile but all being well, that's all I will ever need. It'll have more of a "pull over at the next services, I need a slash" use, but whilst still travelling close to one another.

they are great for car 2 car mate ;)

We did VW Mania with a few of these and they were good as long as everyone was only about 5 car lengths away. Made it a lot easier to keep to a group when doing fuel stops though!

you do not need to be hands free to use these.

I am a Ameteur Radio Licence holder, and I do not need to be hands free for that.

They are excempt, I will try to find on the official website where it says it.

I printed it off a while ago, and used to keep it in my car incase i got pulled up.

used something like this before and quite handy :)

Ah! Good to know, cheers. I did wonder why they had earphones, and assumed it was some kind of handsfree thing. Consider yourself thanked. :)

I know alot of companies use them on building sites, so need earphones to hear them if its noisy, so think alot are supplied with them for reasons such as that

Ah right. Well if enough other people bring walkie talkies as well, in theory we could have them all talking on the same channel. :)

If anyone wants to borrow any, i think i have a couple knocking about the house, could loan them, but no batteries included I'm afraid.

I didnt think you were allowed to drive with anything in your hand, there was a chap who got nabbed for eating an apple whilst driving.

My mind so went into the gutter when I read the first bit of that.

It is a fine line between using a mobile and using one of these. This is more of a "push button and talk" rather than having to actually look at a screen, dialing, then holding to your ear whilst talking. Definitely a fine line though.

anything thats a distraction now is a possible for getting nabbed.

will find the wording out, had a quick look on the ofcom site, but couldnt see it, will look in more depth tomorro.

But i know for a fact tha they can not do you for it.

"Using 2-way radio equipment when driving is not a specific offence. Remember that a conversation could still distract from the concentration needed to drive safely. If you do not have proper control, then the police can still take action."

Right, this says most of what i was putting, I am not saying that everyone should take ther hands off there steering wheels, and hold 2 way radio's before anyone say anything, but was just trying to state the facts. Well done for finding this chris.
