Track days & spare tyres

Featured Replies

Do any of you guys that do track days take a spare set of wheel's & tyres with you?

The reason I ask is I've read stories about people getting nicked on the way home for having bald tyres.

I bought a cheap set of alloys and remould track tyres (Colway Trakstar) for

I'm getting more and more tempted to take my old 17s, still with 205/40 17s on them to run on the front of my car on the trackday... I'm still undecided... I think the more likely outcome will be to leave the 17s at my guest house (thanks relations :D) and if my front tyres are totally fooked at the end of the day I'll swap em over for my journey to Exeter. However, the tread level is good on all four tyres at the moment so I think this could be an unfounded precaution for me.

Bruntingthorpe is extremely rough on tyres, the tarmac/concrete is designed to stop a fully ladden B-52 Bomber. I've driven Elvington and Abbingdon which were rough and abbrasive and Bruntingthorpe is alledged to be worse than those.

If your road tyres are well worn, they will fare better than new tyres as there will be less tread squirm and therefore less heat generation.
