central locking probs

Featured Replies

went out to my car this morning. opened it using the alarm keyfob as usual(skoda key not used as it has a CAT1).

the doors etc all opened fine, got in the car, started and drove off. 2mins later the interior light came on then went off again.(thought it was just a hic-up) i was coming upto a high street so i pressed the button on the door panel to lock all the doors-nothing happened. i tried pressing the lock and unlock, nothing!

arrived at the tyre place for my new F1's  and turned off the ignition. pressed the lock and unlock again. sounded like the boot was locking and unlocking but the doors werent moving!

picked the car up an hour later with 4 new tyres. tried the locks using the door panel and they were fine!! but the skoda car key fob wont open or lock the car!!

any ideas?

Sounds like the remote c/l and the keyfob have got to far out of sync as far as the codes go. You need to resync them, I think its in the manual somewhere.

can that happen on its own or does something cause it?

havent seen it myself, but if you press the lock/unlock keys to often without actually being near the car the unlock codes will get out of step.

also if the key fobs are left near mobile phone it can cause them to get out of step

i tried re-sync the key with the car but no joy......dealer here i come....getting very annoyed!!!!

Might sound stupid but check that your boot light is going out. There have been failures of the switch in the boot lock so the car 'thinks' it isn't locked when it is. This messes up the central locking.

i have something similar at the moment and getting worse -

the lights on buzzers won't work when i open the drivers door......

which presents a problem as the alarm in tied to re-arm after 60 secs if drivers door isn't opened........so i have to open the boot every time i go to my car before i can drive off.....

All the locks work fine off the remote, but put the key in, and only drivers door wil lock, or all of them, but when i unlock with the key, it leave the drivers door unlocked.....

the courtesy lights don't work off the drivers door anymore either......

think a visit is required for remedial work....(might get the electric door mirror fixed at same time....)

expensive job these cars..

I had this sort of problem last week, and it was down to the fact that my interior light fuse had blown, Car would lock with the key but no joy with the key fob, so check to see if your interior light is working, if not it's all linked in with the remote locking, Changed the fuse on mine and all works fine. The only trouble then was that my engine management light came on so I took it into the dealers to get a VAG com check and the only errors it found was "intermittent or speradic central locking fault" and "short circuit on interior light" So thanks vRS next time tell me something I don't know.
