Passat Tyre Challenge - can you help?

Featured Replies

Well, first post since getting back from holiday... :)

Having driven Patsy 1300 miles, on the last 5 miles of the journey I picked up a puncture, its wrecked the tyre as I limped the last leg home (boot full of luggage etc). The tyre was getting low anyway, so I'm after a pair.

The car came with 205/60 15 V as standard, and is on Continental Premium Contact 2s. However, they aren't the best, very soft sidewalls, pants in the wet, noisy...

So I'm after a pair of tyres, but struggling to find something affordable and better in the size.

Any ideas?

Please don't recommend anything that isn't available in my size - lots aren't!! Links appreciated.

Tom - shattered after driving 350 miles... :(

I don't know if Michelin pilot sports are available in that size but they work very well on my Superb.....big problem though they are not cheap.....I'll have a look and post on here later.

No sorry Tom can't find them in that size anywhere, did find some Kumho ecsta but not sure what they are like

how much have you got to spend Tom ?

Mich energy or primacy are

Are you looking for that exact same size Tom, or a slightly different size you can still run on that rim?

Where's this Tyreworld Ric? Not heard of them before...

Steve

just Googled the tyre size Steve , and it came up with 2 hits for Tyreworld , i'd use MyTyres personally

Blimey Tom just had a look at tyres in that size and there's nothing I'd really want to recommend! Can your alloys take a different size? 225/50/15 would allow you to run T1-R's but at 100 quid a corner :(

Ho hum, not looking promising then. :(

Wish I had the spare cash to get a set of alloys to accommodate better tyres... :(

Maybe the Freedom tyre calculator here allow you to work out if a more available tyre size is possible? A 60 profile seems a bit crazy, even for comfort!

How wide are the rims? Maybe a 215/50 or something might be possible, if the rolling radius is kept fairly sensible?

Just tried every close ratio going, and no better luck finding decent tyres. :thumbdwn:

As I need some quick, I just called my local place whos seeing what he can get hold of for tomorrow. :) I just grudge paying decent money for pants tyres :thumbdwn:

Will most likely be another pair of Contis.

That's a real shame you can't stretch to a different set of wheels mate, this sucks big time!!

Got a pair of Dunlop Sport 300s,

Glad you got something sorted

At least they should do until I get some new rims. :)

Are you sure don't mean a new car? :P
