'95 felicia mpg

Featured Replies

Rejoice! But it can't be just the car, your driving technique must have something to do with it, I guess that your accelerator seldom hits the floorboard? 50+ in city traffic is really good.

My previous car, a '92 Nissan Micra (1.2 litre engine) gave me 50+ but then it was renowned for giving you good mpg.

With my 1.6 Felicia I can get 48-50 mpg on main roads if I keep below the 60 mph mark.

Well done, whats your normal mpg.

I think a lot depends on the weather, like warm, or cold air intake.

I do get 46's and 47's.

But I normally keep to the speed limit., why risk a fine for the sake of 2 minutes sooner, however +10% +2 + 4% does = 36, ( so 35 ? :rofl::finger:. )

However, a clear lane on an open road , and again 10%+2 + 4% ?, and I'm sure it's 85 anyway (+4% = 88 so cruise at 85 ?:finger: ) but I keep to the limit , watch out for the cameras , and I've had a clean licence for 40+ years .

I find keeping the speed at 60-65 gives much better economy on a long run than 70-75 when it drops sharply. I don't do the calculations these days but I came back from Devon last week, where I filled up the day before I left. I made the 301 mile trip home, breaking my own rule and caning it all the way back up to 80mph and ran around local chores the next day in heavy traffic before the yellow light came on. Can't grumble at that.

i used to get 330 miiles out of a tank in my old 1.3

but now with the 1.6 me foot tends to stay on the floor till i have to brake. so don't evan bother adding up the mpg, cuz TBH i don't want to know. the thought scares me

It does depend on how you drive big time. With me its generally rubbish mpg, I have had quite a bit out of a few cars - esp when I had a hole in my down pipe before the CAT - that was a laugh! It went faster, and had better mpg :-)

i get about 33mpg out of my fun unless on a long run then i get about 40

Just gave the car a nice long run today and only got 35mpg :( The 320 miles I got out of the tank was 70 pottering about town and the rest motorways and dual carriageways at 75-80. Maybe I need to buy lighter shoes?

I usually end up doing 100 miles per

first dibs on your L&K

Hehe... i certainly would give you guys first refusal on it... probably pinkskud as you have shown the most interest.

I either want to get a newer car... normal fabia, octavia or fabia vRS, but if i realise that its not possible then i want an estate 1.6 l&k felicia... so keep your eyes peeled for me folks!!!

want your leather enough to beg profusely...

I agree entirely. Haven't had my Skoda for so long (yet) so don't have learnt the exact figures, but I drove my old Nissan Micra 1.2 for 15 years and more than 200,000 miles. Motorways (70mph in Sweden) was a 20 % increase in fuel consumption compared to other main roads (55mph)

Increased tyre pressure does a lot. You can add 10 %, e.g. 33 psi instead of 30. You won't notice any difference in thread wear, but in mpg.

We (my size 12 wearing bro and I ) get 400 miles out of

oh im quite scared from reading this, ive got 99 felicia 1.3mpi and to be fair i spend most of my time flooring it round country lanes and driving round town but i can only get about 200 miles out of a full tank :(

Well I'm in for a marathon driving day tomorrow so we'll see if I can better my fuel consumption. I'll be driving from Bury St Edmunds to Fleet (115 miles), from Fleet to Brighton (75 miles) and then back to Bury (139 miles). Who wants to take bets on whether I can do it in one tank with the back seats out and the load bay full of stuff for my new flat?

If your driving gently I reckon you can do it - otherwise (my sort of driving style with your foot down most of the time) I don't think you will!

p.s. looked at a Fabia vRS at my local skoda garage.. and i want it...

Nowhere near, lol. 320 miles is my best so far.

I get 375 miles out of a tank without problems on longer trips on Swedish M, A, and B roads where speed limits usually are 69, 56, and 44 mph respectively. I often add 10 percent or so but seldom go past 70.

With the not-to-impressive 1.6 standard engine speed increase from 55 to 70 mph probably will lead to a mpg drop of 15-20 %

If you really want to reduce fuel consumption and don't mind losing a bit of fun try the following:

Unless you're overtaking, accelerate steady, not hesitatingly, but never use more than half throttle and never go past the 3,000 rpm mark. In city traffic, change gear at 2,000 rpm

Check tyre pressure. Recommendations in owner's manual should be seen as minimum figures, you could add 10 percent without extra wear.

Bur of course this could make driving just too boring;)

I have to admit that I tried being gentler, keeping the speed below 70 but only got another 20 miles out of a tank. It's bad, but I can't stand the thought of driving well below the speed limit! I'm also wondering if a service or at least oil, plugs and filter would help.
