big disaster furby vrs

Featured Replies

ok my furby vrs is making a noise like a bag of nails when it's ticking over. if i press the clutch the noise goes off, anyone any ideas iv'e got lessons all week? :(

Clutch release bearing or gearbox trouble by the sound of it.

Sorry to hear you got probs mate, have to agree sounds like the clutch mech get it to the dealer and claim under the warrenty

Does sound like a release bearing related noise.

Either that or the first motion shaft in the gearbox as it stops when you depress the clutch.

Get it in and looked at.

What you do for a learner car though while yours is being fixed?Do you have to have dual controls..advisable,but essential? S'pose your clutch gets a right old battering :thumbdwn: colin

i thought it sounded like the release bearing myself. the clutch gets 10 times more wear than normal. it's only done 11700 miles though. i expected better than that. it means finding a skoda dealer with a dual control car or hiring one for the day. i got rid of the peugeot due to reliability issues, that's why i went VAG.

Tom,

I think this is a one off, mines done almost 30000 on 1 clutch and the bite is still low down, still annoying just threaten them with making them pay for your lost lessons and watch how quick they get it fixed. Just out of interest when you doing the manouvres do you have the kids using the gas? Personally I find that the gas is redundant and it can be done on just clutch control, and hence ligthen the load on the clutch. Also I dont let them use the foot rest by the clutch, its just too tempting for partially riding the clutch.

Let me know how you get on.

they only use the gas on the manouevres if it's uphill. you get some trying to use the clutch and the brake together though. (both up at the same time!)

Yeah know what you mean, a way of curing this is to be a little sneaky with the duel and hence they stall. Know I told you that would happen! is you next line so lets try it with either clutch or brake not both!!!

ok. story so far. today the engine management light came on which got me thinking. why would the engine management light come on if the clutch was acting up? on thursday i put the Pierbug maf in, sat started making funny noises culminating in sunday sounded like a bag of nails. anyhow i put the old maf back in and after several stops and starts the light as gone out. could it be the pierburg maf that was causing my problems? could i have put it in the wrong way around? anybody any clues? by the way it's quietened down as well since i swoped the maf back.

Tom.

Stop playing Tom! Yep sounds like you are the weakest link!

Andy, i only swopped the maf cos. skoda said they wouldn't swop it until it packed in completely. and Amd said it was goosed. everybody were reccomending the pierburg maf so that's what i tried. but Diy to me means destroy it yourself. lol.

Tom.

Yep agree with about diy I goosed one of thw wifes front calipers and persuade the dealer it had been like that from day 1! Ge fitted a whole new set up for free! I'm now older and wiser!
