Odd beep upon heavy braking

Featured Replies

Hi all, first thread, second post. :)

I've got an '05 Fabia SDI, base Classic model, so no toys other than the ABS. I've noticed that for a while now there is a very faint but very real beep from the passenger footwell whenever I brake fairly harshly, also when cornering hairpins downhill (Holiday in Wales) even at low speeds.

The beep is long, drawn out and very, very faint, in the same tone as the low fuel and the handbrake signal, and it lasts until I release the brake pedal. It is very inconsistent in the sense that I can't seem to make it happen, it only does it when it feels like it, so to speak.

Anyone else get this happen? I don't consider it worth asking my Dealership as it is very unobtrusive, my car has been serviced three months ago and I have no warning lights showing - I'm simply curious.

I get this too - thought it was my imagination at first! It doesn't always happen when I brake heavily either. It's very odd and yeah - it seems to come from somewhere on the passenger side also. So you're not alone in this, but I've no idea what it is!

I think it is the emergency brake assist on ABS priming. It tends to happen in mine when the brake pedal is operate quickly. If the ABS is triggered it does not happen.

Glad I'm not alone.

So you're telling me this happens in your car too?

Therefore it is normal, and I need not worry.

Maybe it's a Skoda warning to slow down and enjoy driving more. Who knows?

They probably share a lot of the braking hardware across the whole range.
