Yes, but neither do audi or seat, everything is VAG group now. Skoda could not afford to compete in the free market so thats why VW bought them, it was a better alternative to GM or renault buying them. Pre VW skoda competed in motorsport, and designed thier own cars (they wernt recycled fiats or anything else for that matter) The point im making is that skoda were an established and respected car maker (other than in the UK) before VW took them over and Seat wernt, but in the UK Seats are considered better than Skodas just because of the name.

I know what your getting at. Skoda owners/fans allways bark on about badge snobbery and putting down Skodas image, I just think its funny that most of them are just as bad putting down other manufacturers..lol.

Lol, I dont have a problem with seats, they are just as good as any other VAG group car but I dont like the snobbery of the british public and how they choose a Seat over a Skoda. Its this percieved self image they have, they want to look fashionable in front of the jones who live next door. They would rather pay a few grand more for a silly Seat badge that has no pedigree or heritage compared to skoda just so they can be like everyone else.

Its so pathetic that the legacy of the skoda jokes of the 1980s continues.

It is true to say that a Skoda is a "thinking man's VW"

Its only the Skoda owners that dont let them die...lol

Personally i'd have a Leon Cupra over a vRS, nothing to do with a badge image or anything, I just prefer the car.

I've owned three Skoda's and no one has ever made any jokes at me about them, wouldnt care if they did.

Love the look of the new Leon, and the Fabia vRS isnt exactly the best looking car out there to be honest :D

That said, it's done me well really so far, and hope one day some of it will live on again ;)

...Skoda TBH have never been about looks if they were then no one would really buy them, rapid, estelle, favorit, felicias looks are not really exotic.

Skoda is all about getting a spacious well equipped car for less than what you would pay from a rival manufacturer and being affordable to maintain, thats it.

Plus there is the added bonus that you do get quirky styling inside and out with a Skoda, they dont follow the norm regarding styling of exterior and interior.

I've heard a few jokes about my skoda,

most of the time I ignoor them, because if they havn't driven a skoda, then they cannot make a valid point in my mind. to be honest,

I love skoda's and i will buy another in the future.

The people who make/use skoda jokes are sad and only make the jokes to hide their own ****-heap of a car.

like a peugoet 106 with loads of dents, no handleing, Crap sound system, and a utterly pointless 954cc engine with 4 gears.

If you want to diss a skoda why dont you drive one first!!!!!

...Ive found the 106 XSi to be damn nippy and excellent handling through corners, real fast rack with excellent feel and feedback. Paint quality sucks though and yes, panels do dent easy, as they do in the 306. The interiors arent the best quality and very rattly (typical french) and if I was to compare a 106 to felicia Id say the felicia wins on its quality interior, solid body and paintwork, all superior to the 106. But as a B road stormer the 106 excells (in rallye, XSi and GTI form anyway)

yes but not a 106 escapade.

ive only driven a 1.3 LXi felicia. What is handling like on 1.6?

absolutly brilliant

great on corners, the torsion bar helps.

its still good without PAS, the AEE is heavy but can be steered well anyway. i guess that also helps on corners.

mine is an estate too so its better weight distributed

...Could have had that L&K estate last night if the reserve was reasonable :(

Wonder if he'll relist it with a more reasonable reserve?

...Hmm, he wants me to phone him. I only want the car for the bits really though, as il be buying a felicia hatch soon.

Would anyone be interested after I finish with it. I would replace the alloys, interior and exhaust system with standard felicia items. Id let it go for £250.

Will the stainless steel exhaust fit a hatch ?

With some persuasion I imagine. Probably only slightly longer than the hatch one.

I think the new fabia looks ok, alot better than the leon. It just looks like a skip with wheels ;P

its insane!!!!!

well, if you put coilovers, 15" alloys and stiffer anti roll bars on, he he he :D

While looking on the net for a more powerful engine to possibly fit in a felicia I came across a 1.6 VW engine that they fitted to Seat Cordobas, quoted as having 100bhp, engine code AFT.

According to specs its a 1.6 SOHC 8v, so, Is this an uprated AEE engine or is it closer in relation to the ones that wont fit?

Regards.

no, that's a close relation to the 2,0 crossflow units.... again it would be a pig to fit:O

  • 1 year later...

IM CURRENTLY LOOKING AT GOLF MK 3 GTI LUMP SAY 1.8 OR 2.0 BUT WILL PROB JUST LAND A FELICIA 1.6i AS THERE SHOULDNT BE ANY IF LITTLE FABRICATION.GONNA TRY TO FIT NITROUS ALSO:D.ITS AN ONGOIN PROJECT AND CANT WAIT TO GET IT GOING.JUST BEEN GIVEN A VW CORRADO COMPLETE EXHAUST BUT THE BORE IS AT 60MM MY FELICIA IS AT 40MM:thumbdwn:

With regard to getting more power from forced induction on the original 1.3/1.6, could the fueling be increased with an additional injector fitted into the inlet manifold, the frequency controlled by a simple circuit which takes it signal from one of the exsisting injectors and multiplies the frequency by 4 before using a high speed relay to operate the additional manifold injector ??

this might save messing about with custom ECU's etc, as the signal to the original injector would increase as the driver accelerates, so the signal to the additional injector would be proportional to the air drawn in, only thing to calculate would be the size or injector required. Also the injector frequency would still be automatically adjusted by readings from the lambada sensor! ????

Good idea? or Bodge disaster?
