gonna be on telly! (VXR racing driver of the year)

Featured Replies

hey all, I'm gonna be on telly, so just thought I'd let everyone know , so they can laugh at me... (did a couple of 'dorky' interviews! lol..)

this is me with the telly crew after the qualifying...

they seemed to think it was amusing that a driving instructor was racing... all questions along the lines of "have you come here to break the speed limit then?!" ect ect

I didn't make it into the final grand prix, too chicken in the corners made me too slow....

my car was a camera car though, the camera on mine facing backwards (on number 7 facing forwards) hope they show a shot where someone tried to take me into the first chicane, out braked himself, and ran backwards into the tyres in plume of smoke! lol....

anyway, it's the VXR racing driver of the year, and will be shown on ITV in march (after they finally get to the end of the trials , and have someone to race for them next year)

had a great day out, anyone feels like organising a raceday (you can hire the whole outdoors track (edinbrough raceway) with its 70mph karts, for any number from 10 to 100! there is an indoor track too if its raining, catering facilities ect ect... we could make a weekend of it if people live too far away, and camp somewhere nearby...

That's it - selling telly, not renewing license :thumbdwn:

Bet you had a good day though

huzzah - I was right !

when you mentioned this a while ago, the karting place was one of the suggestions i had for where it would be.

I've done both the indoor and outdoor karting there - it's great.

Mind you, when we did the outdoor, I spent most of my time trying to get the kart back onto the track again :(

yup , you got the right place, it was great fun, I would go again at the drop of a hat..

and the ammount of people going off at the hairpin was funny.... you brake on approach, but God help you if you don't let go before tuning the wheel! lol.. you're strainght backwards into the tyres! It was great fun because you could get the karts sideways, but not the way to get a fast lap! lol....

was a great day:) again, I think we should have a brisky national competition, if we can get enough people to have the day to ourselves, there would be practice, quali, heats, and a final grandprix with trophies ect :)

I'll kick your a**e.

Nice cravat btw :D

we were driving the raceways karts..... the VXR showroom models were just there to promote the Vauxhall brand (they had the corsa VXR the astra VXR (which I'm sure you're familiar with... I liked the look of it, we wern't allowed to drive them though!) and the REALLY nice VXR8.... that car is on my wish list (never thought I'd say that about a Vauxhall.... can I call it a Holden?!)

however, the overall winner, will be driving the astra 220 in a race series next year..... (and in the finals of course...)

my mate done this in edinburgh yesterday, he was in 1st place in the grand prix until he got side swiped by the guy in seconds dodgy overtaking manouvre, he finished up in 3rd, great effort but not enough to go through.
