my new car

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

I have just bought a felicia 1.3 mpi and just found this forum which looks great I have a few questions I would like help with please.

first I would like to know if you think I paid a fair price for it the guy I bought it of said it was one of the vw ones so I thought I got a good deal but after reading this forum I now know that not to be the case.

It's a S reg felicia 1.3 mpi lx 80,000 miles full T&T service history and the body work is immaculate not one bit of rust I paid £550 is this a average price and are they a reliable engine/car.

another thing I would like to know is the headlight adjusters only one light moves and only when the switch is at number 1 at 2 nothing happens on any of the lights does anyone know what could be the cause.

thanks for any help

Not a bad price for full T&T and service history

but not VW engined

don't let that put you off, there's nothing wrong with the Skoda engine, very reliable and no cam belt to change.

That doesn't sound too bad...

About the headlight adjusters, just ignore them!! They always fail and so never work.

They use a stupid hydraulic kinda system that leaks in the end and so doesn't work.

Not worth the trouble of fixing as you have to buy a complete new system and install it.

Hope this helps.

thats a dam good price. you could pay a lot more for one.

as said before, forget the head light adjusters they never work and probably never will.

Plenty of posts on here on how to overcome the droopy headlamp problem

Hello thanks for the reply s thats put my mind at ease.

I have a few more questions if you don't mind the drivers door lock will open with the key but not lock but you can lock it from the inside does anyone know what is the most likely cause thank you.

the drivers door lock will open with the key but not lock but you can lock it from the inside does anyone know what is the most likely cause thank you.

Back of the lock's broken, one of the lugs has broken off the casting.

Find a lock in a scrapyard or buy a new one from:

Skoda Parts & Accessories

about £18 + postage. The lug is held on by a circlip and can be transferred to your old lock so you can use your usual key.

I only did this to my felicia yesterday

Hello after reading through the forum it seem the felicia is supposed to have a engine bay brace strut my 98 does not have is it missing or do they all not have them thanks.

some of the 1.3's never had one. its a 1.6 sort of thing

Thanks pinkskud are they all the same size and what are they supposed to do

A strut brace helps prevent unwanted suspension flex when you push your car to the limits, it can be a noticable improvement in handling.

Hi thanks

so you do not realy need one for normal everyday driving or are they worth fitting thanks

You don't need one for normal everyday driving, if you did, they'd be fitted as standard to all cars.

A strut brace off a 1.6 should fit a 1.3, it's just a stiffening bar that bolts on across the top of the suspension pillars.

Thanks for the help its much appreciated

...The later phase 2 1.6s have them, ive seen some 1.3 low spec felicias in scrap yards with the factory brace. They all look the same, painted black steel bar. You can buy a chromed one from Butts of bawtry for £25 or you could get a thicker polished alloy one from a czech tuning website for a bit more.

Either way as mentioned before if you are not an enthusiastic driver you wont notice it.

This is the gen Skoda accessory one, cost me under £20 not sure what the retail was..

...Theres another type of brace that they fitted, has different mounting cups than that one. I think its fitted to the felicia fun on the JBS website.
