I washed the vRS yesterday and now the car won't lock from the keyfob.

I didn't get the key wet - so must be something on the car - any idea's?

sounds like water has got onto the control module. Its inside the drivers door if I remember.

Try your spare remote. If this doesn' work then its probably in the car as suspected. Or try re-syncronising you remote to the car. This can be done quite easily and if you give me a couple of hours I will post later on how to do it. You don't need VAG Com and you don't need to visit your dealer.

I am assuming your key still operates the central locking manually..?

Right here goes are you all sitting comfortably ....... then I'll begin.

This procedure can be used to programme replacement remote transmitters and to re-sychronise existing remote transmitters if required and can only be used if the keys have already been programmed into the vehicles transponder immobiliser system.

1. Insert a key into the ignition switch and turn ignition on.

2. With the key to be programmed mechanically lock the drivers door.

3. Operate the UNLOCK button of the remote transmitter.

4. Wait for 6 Seconds.

5. Operate the UNLOCK button of the remote transmitter a second time.

6. The remote transmitter should now be successfully programmed, and will

be confirmed by the vehicle horn sounding.

Additional remotes can be programmed by repeating the above procedure at any time.

Perhaps the moderators would like to stick this in the FAQ's for future reference.

BAAHEED, Thanks for that - one small problem though , I've only got one key!!! (My second one is at the dealers awaiting collection.)

I can still lock/unlock the car from the drivers door so all is not lost.

I keep your posting and try it when I get the second key. - Cheers.

Update:- used the car for the first time today since the CL packed up and now the windows wouldn't work!!!

I checked the fuses and one of the little red 10a had blown. Replaced it and the windows and CL are all working fine.
