best motorway mpg?!

Featured Replies

I had little fuel, and had to get all the way to buxton and back today on 3/4 of a tank, and wasn't sure if I could do it, so i resisted the right foot, and drove soley for economy (I left early so time would allow), and got my best mpg yet! I think its 'just' run in now its done 15k...

well 59.9 mpg, over a 300 mile journey! was well impressed (if bored) I really wanted to crack 60, but hey, another day perhaps!

give us a list ! (copy and paste )

No idea how she did it (aside from us crawling along at 60mph most of the way at 2am) but impressive stuff, especially on cheap and nasty Tesco diesel :D

lol... thought I was doing well, everyones beaten me so far!

edit: gotta be m/way.... I've managed to get to 65 on an "old granny" A-road run in 6th at tickover!

What speeds were you all doin? granny mac -3

Come on guys, really if you have a remap n other mods then why drive slow.

I get bored n just plant my foot to wake me up

Mine was on the M5/M42/M1 and I wasn't particularly trying for economy but the roads were busy but flowing consistently.

6. ric04vrs - Fabia VRS (standard) 71mpg 130 miles

dropped down to 70.1 after 158 miles due to some A-road driving

16808.attach

managed 44.9mpg in a 1.6 petrol over 427 miles. Not even close :o

999.99 mpg - and then I had to back it off the Recovery truck.

Devil went down to 666.66. :D

Probably my best but best for the fun factor

Dover to Imola via Monacco in the STi a few years ago, 900 miles only stopping for fuel , much of it Motorway, about 18mpg. Also did Poole - Morroco in the Octy, again only stopping for fuel, 1100 miles very low 20's.

In both case a great deal of fun & cruising at *** mph

Good lad!!!

Well on the trip computer my dad managed just under 75mpg over 180miles of M4 & M25 in a 115 GT TDI Golf. He never uses anything but Supermarket fuel, never uses any additives and uses 6th for as long as possible without labouring the engine.

supermarket fuel is just older shell esso and elf etc's product, nothing really wrong with it tbh. will affect performance i guess but shouldnt think economy
