Which Suspension Kit?

Featured Replies

Ive found a few suspension kits for VRS which I think are quite fairly priced. Has anyone experienced these?

Weitec - lowers 20mm - £284

Weitec / Ultra GT Suspension Kits / SKODA Fabia RS (6Y) 2,0i + diesel - 10/00 / Euro Performance Car Parts

KW - lowers 30mm - £337

KW / Suspension Kits / Skoda Fabia RS; (6Y) 1.9 TDI - 09/03- / Euro Performance Car Parts

Koni - lowers 40mm - £265

KONI / STR.T Suspension Kits / Skoda Fabia Saloon / Hatchback, 2.0, 1.9SDi, 1.9TDi (6Y) From Years: 01/00 > > / Euro Performance Car Parts

FK - lowers 35-40 - £262

FK / High-Tec Suspension Kits / Skoda Fabia (6Y) year 1/2000 - TUV approved lowering of 35-40 / Euro Performance Car Parts

Bilstein is also on there and Eibach but at £450 they are too much for me.

weighing towards kw.

i didn't realise some of the kits were so cheap, hmmm that could sway my decision on lowering.

i was intending on just getting some eibach springs but i quite fancy the -40mm drop and isn't really too much more.

Yes and koni are a reputable maker too.

Unlike FK which is a bit dodgy from what I've read about their coilovers.

people i've known to have FK's have usually been fine, one thing they recommend is plenty of grease round the adjusters or they are bad for seizing

Hi

I have the STR.T kit on my Fabia

It sits superbly!!!

Handles a dream and was a bit harsh to start , but at 100k miles , I think the shockers were , well a bit past their sell by date (putting it the nice way)

So I think it was my old age

OK now

I love the car , sits more like a Fabia now rather than a Fabia on stilts

Mark has followed me in the car and he commented on how well it rides ;)

Hope that is a help on that kit

So does it make the ride unbearably harsh or just a bit stiffer than normal?

Was that springs and shocks or just springs you had on yours? any problems with catching the bottom of it? or with camber and toe?

Hi Joel

No it is fine now , I think it was just me not used to the shockers actually working

It was the full STR.T kit , which is the springs and shocks

The shocks are the Sport Yellows that are adjustable without the adjustment  heck I hope you know what I mean

They are the exact same without the adjustability

Feels great , sits superbly too

£203.36 + VAT we sell them for too

Fantastic

My car is here most days if you want to have a look or a drive

Sarah

Stay well away from FK IMHO, I know of a reseller who has had to return shedloads of faulty dampers. Weitec (KW) coilovers for around £450 would be a good buy.

As a matter of interest, Sarah, how much do you charge to fit them?

Think I will probably for the Koni's then.

Unless people have had problems with ground clearance?

How much can you do them for including vat and delivery?

Hmm having read a bit more it seems a lot of people warn against the 40mm kit due to scraping problems.

I cant justify spending £450+ on a suspension kit.

KW's are probably the contenders, does anyone know if H&R do a full kit or just coilovers?

the eibachs have a 25mm drop and seem to be by far the most popular choice. Perhaps it would be worth doing some research and seeing if they are worth the extra?

I personally dont think the eibachs sit low enough, where as the H&R look lovely, depsite only being 5mm lower.

The koni and FK kits listed are not for the vRS, something to remember the vRS nose weigt is different to other Fabias and thus has different springs.

Ive got a £280 Coilover kit on my fabia, love it, nice and soft so the ladies dont moan :D

can you post up a pic please (to save me searching) :P

and for the kit, how much do you charge for shipping?

Sarah and Stuart any sump issues being 35-40mm low??? Any pics of ride height?

I am using eibach springs at the moment so lowered 25-30mm but want to go lower on coilovers.

Cheers

Did you cut the bump stops on yours? Mine are firm to say the least.

Shaun

Hi No problems at all with the sump

To start with mine looked like a Fabia on stilts anyway

Looks great now

I will wash it this weekend and take some pics for you

I trimmed them a little bit, but my coilovers are really comfortable, and i have them wound all the way down

I have mine all the way down and they are solid, will give the seller and email.

I'm going thru' the Briskoda induction syndrome. On joining one guy said, " this forum will cost you money" - didn't believe him, Oh, Oh!

Next project under consideration is lowering; can hear the laughter already.

Here's the question.

There seems to be a consensus that Eibachs in combination with Koni FSD'd is the optimum. That ratchets up to about £550 minimum for the kit.

But, this thread shows a Koni system STR.T which is half that price. So, what's the difference, apart from the springs being Koni and of course, 50% less?

Just noticed the Lummox post where he notes that the kit listed doesn't fit the vRS. Is there a Koni one that does fit, and if so, how much?

  • Author

That Koni one doesnt fit.

The KW one does however and that is £320 I think.

The only difference is that the engineering going into the spring wont be quite as good as eibach. The ride will probably be a bit harder.

But KW are still a very very well respected manufacturer.

Kw are a very good make. The dampers are made in conjunction with a german company called alko, those of you with caravans will recognise that name as they make stabilizers for towing. Having been in a car (01 ibiza cupra r 20vt) fitted with kw v1 coilovers, i can see why they are highley regarded. Absolute amazing body control and the ride was very good indeed to say how low the thing was. If i could afford the V1's then my fabai would definatly be sporting a set. But being a poor student i think ill have to make do with the Koni fsd/ kw spring combo. Well thats my loan gone ;)
