Maxidot or not?

Featured Replies

Is it worth ordering Maxidot, or sticking with the trip computer?

What functions does the trip computer show, and what does the maxidot do extra?

I'm considering a purchase if an Ambiente version so any info would be helpful

Thanks

Order Maxidot mate... I didn't get the option on mine and Skoda charge me everything time I want a setting changed:(

Well worth it

Have a quick search on the forum.. this has been covered many times, the general consensus being "yes, get it". Maxidot shows various trip details, but also allows you to control settings for things like auto-locking, central locking modes etc. etc..

Without it, you will have to get your dealer to tweak these things. It appears to be desirable, so it will also help your car sell when you want to change

If there is a choice then I would say yes.

I would go with it, not only do you get the extra functions but I now think its better to look at. I have just had my non maxidot dashpod swapped for a maxidot one.

Ignoring the fact the new dashpod is a vRS one, the display in the middle just looks better.

Would always get MaxiDot, so glad I got it, added advantage that you get multi function wheel as your not getting a vRS. Door open (see piccy in mannyo post) and nice big flashing low fuel/oil/water icons are unmissable

Wish I'd have ordered it on mine

A bit of a no-brainer. If you have the spare cash, definately get it.

Can the maxi-dot be retro fitted??

It requires a new dashpod Lee.

Is that the whole dash - ie. rev / speedo etc? Or just the maxidot part?

The unit as a whole - It's a complete part.

As you can see in the pictures above we replaced Manny's TDi Elegance one with an RS TDi Maxidot.

Stu also sorted mine on the VRS which he retro fitted last week.

I'd say buy it most definitely. Don't retro fit if you can order it from new as its not exactly expensive when ordering the car and there are a couple of option adjustments that don't appear to be available from the screen on a retro fit - although it may be that the car hasn't the range of options that appear on the screen. Just need to suss how to enable them really and confirm what should be there as opposed to what is there!

Still, I am very happy with it as it looks so much better and classier and has a lot more info on it.
