What are those crystal ball things in the front headlights

Very interesting. As the function of foglights is to reduce bounce-back when it would dazzle you, just how does increasing the luminous intensity of the light sources help more than changing the lens design?

IF you needed rear fogs, you WOULD want front fogs. The point of front fogs is to set beam lower and bounce back from the fog less, you turn your headlamps down to sidelights, slow down and drive on the fogs. Better visability. If you can still drive fine on headlights, you don't need the rear fogs on as others will see you with their headlights.....

As earlier, what about daylight fog, when what you want is maximum luminous intensity, to maximise the range that others can see you from?

The feature I would like to see is REAR FOG LIGHTS

that switch off automatically at above 40MPH.

If you can see to safely go that fast,

you don't need to dazzle everyone behind you!

I do like the switchgear VW use for the fogs, as you have to conciously switch them on each time.

I've had cars with single push buttons, scattered across the dash,

behind the wheel etc ... so you could easily forget to switch them off as the reminder light isn't in your line of sight or within the dash. display.

I got nabbed years ago in my mk3 fiesta SI (oohhh) for having fogs on after going through a bad patch of fog and the switch was not visable when driving so I hadn't switched it off and when i told the copper to sit in the car and look his answer was " well you better write to Ford cos I don't give a 5hit"

As for the octy orbs I put them on the other night as it was quite foggy and they seemed to do the trick with just the side lights on as well
