Servicing an Octavia II Vrs in (north) London?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

It doesn't need it just yet, but given the inevitable requirement to service my Octy at some point, I was wondering if anybody had any tips on good garages in North London and thereabouts (we live in Highgate).

Also, my motor is on this variable service timetable. Maybe it's just me being an old traditionalist, but it makes me uncomfortable, especially given the stress on the engine of it being a turbocar. Anybody have a strong view on this? Should i just go for the annual option after I take it in for its first service?

Cheers very muchly....

If you are considering a main dealer for the servicing, its worth having a read of what others think in the Review Section on here - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/skoda-dealers-england/

And if you do use one, don't forget to leave a review afterwards!

With regards to your variable servicing option, it might be worth stating how many miles a year you do? I'm doing 25k miles per year, and wouldn't fancy the expense of 10k servicing. But I must admit my preference is wallet driven rather than in depth technical consideration!

I guess to some extent it also depends how long you intend to keep the car. If you buy a new car and sell it after 3 years with a FSH (even though that may be variable) then I doubt you will lose out (and any problems will be covered by warranty anyway).

Thanks Andy - I don't reckon we'll do more than 10K a year, and neither of us are 'hard' drivers. Maybe the variable thing will be OK for that?

Variable is fine, your car has sensors in the engine to monitor the condition of the oil and will trigger the service at the appropriate time. My old vRS was remapped and run on variable for more than 50K miles with no issues, during that time it had 3 services.
