The Vikings are here!

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Member of The Vikings of Middle England re-enactment group here (hence the thread name). Today I went mad and bought a 1997 black Felicia 1.6 GLX estate. Well, not too mad. I'd driven my friend's red one to South Wales and back (back being Leicester) without happening to anyone or breaking down (nerves or mechanical).

There is that old list of "You know you're a re-enactor when ..." and buying an estate or a van as your first car is right near the top. Ho hum.

The breaks squeak but they seem to work so that's probably just muck in them and is hopefully easily sorted. Apparently the 1.6 is supposed to be 75 BHP. Feels more like 5. The 0 to 30 is terrible. Very little power. Seems to be quite a struggle to get there for the poor thing. Once it's at 40 plus it feels fine. Any ideas guys?

Happy Saturday,

Cei

Welcome Cei.

No doubt you've looked on the Felicia section. If you can't find a solution, post your question in there - more likely to get looked at :)

Hiya.

Odds on the brake squeal just needs a touch of Copaslip on the backplates.

As for the lack of power, I'd check that the plugs and leads are in good order before anything else.

Cheers. Today was wait for it to stop raining then change all the fluids day. Mmmmm, engine oil all over hands, lovely.

The lack of power probably be down the extra weight in the car from the massive axe (or similar huge sharp object), wolf skin clothing and large metal hat..

But seriously, welcome to the site.

Welcome Cei,

Got any re-enactments coming up?

Have you seen the dvd pathfinder, it's a bit one sided...

Axe! UncleRic, you don't know the half of it. I bought the estate version because I'll need the space for all the stuff I have to take to shows.

ColinD, and everyone, we have a bonfire night show (actually on the 3rd) coming up at Tutbury Castle but after that it's pretty much the end of the season 'till next spring.

We tend to choose vehicles based on being able to fit a spear inside and how many sea chests will go in the boot. And before anyone says anything; all the weapons are blunt, we train every week in the safe (but looking convincing) use of them and have to carry our photo' IDs when we have them on us. All rules and laws followed.

Still doesn't stop reindeer fur shedding like ... well ... reindeer fur. It statics itself to plastic trim and welds itself to upholstery and ends up in the glove box even though it was in the boot.

I've seen adverts for that film but haven't seen it yet. Any good?

from one newbie to another...

Hee. Oh, we sing alright Lynny. Mostly after the public have gone home, mind. Our infamous 'song book' couldn't be posted on-line.

Definitely without the horned helmet, though. They never had those. That was just Wagner and operatic stage costumes.

Oh NO!!!

fooled again!!!!

but yaaaaaaaaaaaay for the rude and lusty singing!!! I'm all for that :D:D:D:D
