OCTAVIA is a MK4 GOLF????????

Featured Replies

Well it seems i was the last person in the world to find out that the octavia is same suspension setup as a mk4 golf...

will lowering springs fit off a golf onto my octavia Tdi??

Not sure if they'll fit but yes its the same chassis/floorpan as the Golf 4.

And in certain models uses the same engines.

But much better built in my opinion.

In the past ive purchased various parts for mine from my local VW dealer as its closer to me

than skoda and in some cases has been cheaper too

skoda octavia

vw golf

vw bora

audi A3

audi TT

maybe a couple more i've forgotton but they are all the same basic cars underneath and share the same or very similar mechanical components.

The front ones will be fine but the the rear end of the Octavia is heaver than the Golf so you should have different springs ... but some companies, Eibach for one I believe, sell the same kit for the Golfs as for the Octavia since as you say it is the same setup.

Yes, you ought to find Octavia specific rear damper and springs - the Octy has a big over hang after the rear wheels which the Golf does not. Therefore hard acceleration will see the car noticably squat at the back wheels more when running Golf springs!

Look in the for sale section. My unused PI Octavia 30 mm drop springs are in there going cheap.

Hi guys, sorry to resurrect this thread, but im reading here that the Octy VRS can use mk4 suspension with uprated rear springs, but in this thread: http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/will-2wd-tt-suspension-fit-octy/92480/

it says that the octy can only use Skoda VRS suspension kits

Clear as mud for me now, can someone help? Basically im looking to cheaply lower my car a tad, I suspect my shocks won't take just springs so id be looking to do shocks and springs on a budget.

Thanks

I've been told that the saloon Octavia uses the same springs as the estate Golf... I'm not sure if this is correct?

an octavia fwd is the same as a fwd bora/golf est.

a 4x4 one is the same as a 4x4 golf / bora

i think the rear weights are different to the golf hatch.

Ok, so in theory if I got aftermarket shocks for a golf estate, and then uprated springs, I could install them on my MK1 VRS?

why not stp tuuatting about and buy vrs stuff?

anyway only chavs buy jusr springs. do it properly or dont bother. coilovers are the only way to do it properly.

I've removed my vRS's suspension completely now.

I'm running a couple of hungry badgers on the fronts, and a pair of young ferretts on the rear. I find they really improve the cars ability to smell. Which is great.

My ferretts are begining to sag a bit know, which the badgers are annoyed about obviously. Would coilovers satisfy the badgers needs?

P.S. I heard springs are made from compacted puppies tears, for maximum spring. Is this also true?

Regards.

coilovers are the only way to do it properly.

Hopefully that was tongue in cheek.

In anycase I would agree that you should do the dampers as well as the springs. However, the only real difference between consumer coilovers is that they are height adjustable compared to normal struts. There is no issue with running something like uprated Bilstein or Koni dampers.

Why look at things other than those marked vRS? Because there are very few kits marked vRS and the companies stating that it 'must' be vRS stuff used will usually have a vested interest in doing so.

gonna say I agree.

I gettin the weitec coils and they are £475 and you can lower the car to what you want when you want. if you got bit more money then go for the KW v1s at about 680 or if you rich and got 950+ then get the best of the lot, KW v3s. adj damping and hight.

KWv1 is the same as the weitec hicon GT as they both made by KW iirc just the weitecs are not stainless steel.

hope this convinces you a bit

all the stuff ull need for the weitecs will be £600 inc P&P then you jus fit it ur self.

pm me and ill give you all the places i gettin the bits from. as it stands I cant find any cheaper places to get the stuff from.
