octy vrs tdi or leon fr tdi??

Featured Replies

may be getting company car and looking at these options

thing that confusing me presently is they both have 170 bhp but octy has 50 nm more tqe than leon but i thought they had the same engine any body driven both cars and whats your opinions

They are both the same engine....dunno why one would have more grunt than the other. Could be a typo.

It all depends on what you're after to be honest. The Octy is a bigger car and once again has silly white alcantara seat inserts that will go grubby. But apart from that they're on par with each other. I think the Octy comes with more kit but the Leon looks better IMO. The Leon would cost more too so that would affect your P11D.

Depends if you have luggage to carry and whether you value your fillings. Octy has an enormous boot compared to the Leon, but the ride in the Leon is as hard and bouncy as they come - the Octy is much more civilised. The poor ride in the FR is one reason why SEAT fit a heavily revised front suspension to the Leon Cupra...

Has the FR got DSG?

If so, that's probably why it has less torque.

Working out the tax and the octy comes out more expensive by about £20

i will test both but just wondered if anyone had already done so and can compare

sorry just to add p11d for leon is 17505, and octy is 18380 so presume that is where the dif in tax comes from but octy has lower CO2 which is factor of it as well

I had a test drive in the octy vrs 170tdi last week was really impressed by it, nice interior, very comfortable, huge boot and the engine pulled really well maybe not quiet aswel as my fabia low down but at higher revs it was better, eager to go to the red line which i was surprised by! Overall pretty good:thumbup:

The other day i looked at the Leon Fr, the exterior is nicer than the octy but the interior looked cheap, i wasn't keen!:thumbdwn: The dealer only had a petrol in so i didn't bother with a test drive. Personally i prefer the octy more pratical and nicer to be in:thumbup:

Have you thought about the Golf GT?

yeah but have been told that its not all that good not that i can say as have not driven it.

To be honest i like the oil burners easier to drive ( for me anyway) i could have golf gti or audi/merc cause its basically any car up to £574 per month allowance but leased to company not you so i wouldn't have to pay the tax or be stuck with a lease car if it went t1ts up at the job, but if i go for a cheaper car i can pocket the left over monthly allowance as additional cash.

I've come to the conclusion that the quoted torque figure for the Leon FR TDI is wrong, as the 140bhp 2.0 TDI is quoted at 320NM!!

I've test drove the Leon FR, amazing car, my sister was looking to buy one (she picked it up on saturday), suspension very solid, no body roll and loads of grip even when pushing it round the corners - does anyone know if they have the 312mm brakes? as I thought that was the best thing about it, amazing stopping ability.

I didnt mean the Golf Gti i meant the Golf GT which has the 2.0tdi 170bhp unit the fr & vrs have! My mate has one and its very good:thumbup:

Motorpoint.co.uk are selling them for 15,999 with delivery mileage bargain!

yes the FR TDI does have 312mm stoppers

well test drove both and have to say octy is obviously bigger and interior feels slightly better but the FR was (imo) a much better handling car goes round corners so much better, no roll, great grip, did some speed bumps and was fine although was a little more unsettled on a very bumpy stretch.

both engines obviously the same but am shocked at the difference in the new units, ok it does not shove you into the back of your seat as soon as you hit 2000 rpm but so smooth all the way to the red line and seemed so fast.

overall both top motors but being as my mrs wants my vrs and she will sell her vtr (thank god) i would prob have the seat to be different.

I prefer the look, design and interior of the Octavia, but those are just down to personal choice. A mate has a PD170 Leon here and it's an impressive motor.

Steve

There's a Leon tdi 170 on pistonheads with the BTCC bodykit, RS4 alloys and red/black leather:eek: , looks awesome:thumbup:

Seat : LEON FR TDI 170

Thats the one!:tempted:

That's fairly epic, I must say

Drool...

But then you can buy a brand new FR TDI for less than that, albeit without the body kit.

they are both quite different cars really though.

the FR is more racey due to the lightness and stifness of the car

the octy is more daddy cool :) its got room to be sensible, but the power and fun to keep the grin factor up!

i like seats, but i prefer the octy. a friends got a older leon and the build quality is starting to show up as not as good as a similar octy.

Octavia vRS anyday of the year. The new Leon's are horrible. The dreaded dashboard rattle still hasn't been fixed (problem on my old Leon, and my cousins) Even a problem on my brother in law's Altea. They just aren't anywhere near as well built as the Octavia's.

I'd say the Octavia's carry a better retail value for selling on, and is a bigger, stronger car.....

Never had to deal with Skoda's customer service, but Seats were very poor, as were two of their dealers I visited.

Octavia anyday.

No dashboard rattle on mine!

As for SEAT dealers, some good some bad. I've had dealings with both.

Fortunately, I bought the Leon from a good one.:)
