What's your best MPG out of your Fabia VRS?

Featured Replies

My Dad, bless him, was telling me yesterday that his computer disagrees with his brim to brim calculations so therefore...the pump at Sainsbury's must be reading innaccurately!

I had to try and explain that the computer is always guessing, and will never be spot on accurate. "What's the point of having one then?" was his reply...I gave up...

Yeah I heard that too. Like pootling along in 6th at 40mph actually uses more fuel than if you were in 4th/5th.

I tend to change at 2 - 2.5k if taking it easy.

When I start work at 5am and going down hill for 3 miles in 6th gear I get a reading of 106 mpg . Now I know the roads are dead at this time and and going a steady 30-35 mph helps but it is really hard to believe. I will take a pic of the high mpg next time.

My first full tank after my remap gave me a 4% increase in mpg and this included a lot of enthusiastic driving!

When I came back from Jabba and visited my parents, 150 miles of mostly A roads and rush hours traffic the computer read 78 mpg - I wouldn't have expected to achieve 70 mpg pre-remap - so I think there is a real 10% improvement in mpg available.

I regularly run 30mpg in 6th the engine is producing more than enough power not to be stressing it - and having done the same short journeys using 4th/5th neither come close to the economy of running in 6th gear.

Most of my economy comes through the use of Cruise Control and I think there is another 5% available if I stop the CC from trying to maintain speed while climbing gradients.

If I do my usual run to work 30 there 30 back, 10 of which is urban and sit at revs 2.5k Then by brim method I get a constant 60mpg (no point in horsing it as the last ten miles is following a tractor or heavy lorry)

Tuesdays when I horse it, as for some reason said lorries and tractors are not on the road, then I halve my journey time, and fuel is down to 45mpg

National

To work (25 mile trip) A road mostly

Driving at limit, not bashing it, 55 - 60 mpg

Keen driving to the limit and nothing more, 45 - 50 mpg

Driving like I stole it, 30 mpg (b road special)

On a drive to Devon 57 - 65 mpg sitting @ 70 mph, I'd love to get cruise fitted mind....
