What's your best MPG out of your Fabia VRS?

Featured Replies

Took mine for a wee drive round trip of about 50 miles which took in town driving, and motorway and a class coast roads and checked my trip computer 52.5mpg.

Is this quite good or can I expect more??

David

I got 67mpg one day, downhill motorway run on an excellent surface on a warm day, feathering the throttle. In reality that is about 65mpg because my trip computer is always around 2mpg optimistic. At the moment though I am averaging about 48mpg with a mix of town/motorway driving.

cool thanks for that mate, anything more than 40mpg is good for me!

My previous focus 1.6 petrol, was doing about 42mpg combined, I reckon if I stuck to the motorway more to go where I was going I can expect a wee bit more, but impressions are good so far.

I'm getting about 40mpg in town driving at the moment, just going to and from work at the moment.

I usually aim to get 45+ day-to-day, and 50+ on a long run - although I'm not the most conservative of drivers! ;):D Depending who you ask, fuel choice can also be a factor...

Hi there,

Just driven 250 miles and and the computer averaged 60mpg, so in reality it's probably 56/57ish.

If you press the little button, it tels you what the mpg is over the last 1000 miles (I think), Mine says 47.4mpg, I normally just look at the first seting though.

59 over 2hrs, at a pretty constant 70 in France, mostly on cruise control. Was also running a double dose of Millers on that tank, which helped I'm sure :)

Also make sure your tyre pressures are spot-on, it can make a huge difference, particularly with a few passengers in the rear. On one recent run, I forgot to pump my tyres and barely managed 45mpg, on the return journey, I pumped the tyres up to the correct laden pressure and managed over 55mpg.

I'll be cleaning the car this week and doing my weekly checks so will check the tyre pressures out and inflate them if needby, my trip computer says I have about 95 miles to go but going to take that as a pinch of salt as somebody on here said not to beleive that.

In my old Fabia (03 PD100 with about 45k on the clock at the time) I drove from Birmingham to Warwick at about 60 MPH to see how many MPG I could get (the M42 was slow anyway most of the way). When I arrived the trip computer said 73 MPG. Wasn't quite that good normally of course...

With cruise control set at 70mph on a 50 mile motorway run, I average 65 mpg according to my computer.

Was forced to potter along at 40-50 yesterday on A-roads, stuck behind gimmers*/sunday drivers...

Computer said 70.4 for the 16 mile trip!

*What is it with little old ladies in Fiestas? I swear her car had cruise control and was stuck on 39.

Range seems fairly accurate, at least in my experience. In some people's cases it tends to be pessimistic, but I've never been brave enough to test it! Worst/best I've had is pulling into a filling station is the range sitting at 5. But I know others who have driven for some time (10 miles?) with it sat on 0.

I usually see 70mpg on my pottle around the river Exe to work. Car pulls fairly well in 6th at 45mph, and is totally off-boost, so uses next to no fuel. Leaving my mate's garage on dartmoor I have seen up to 150mpg on the "descent" off the Devon highlands.

My long term average is still around high 50s, helped by the turbo's characteristics, and by the lpg topping up the fuelling when the boost does go up a bit, :)

my trip is optimistic both with mpg and with range.

my average (no 2 on the trip comp) mpg is currently sitting at about 62 - but my brim-brim calculations have an average closer to 48.

similarly, the range said 80 miles last week when the "bing" went (having done about 420 since last fill.)

I filled up soon afterwards, needing just under 40 litres. So, according to the computer, the remaining 5 litres were going to last 80 miles ? -that's about 70 mpg !!

82.3mpg, driving at 70mph for hour & half down M1............. but then my trip computer does read out by 30-35%

Normally reads about 68mpg after daily commute, but never get over 50mpg brim to brim.

45mpg on a run of about 40 miles if I drive like I stole it.

52 if I take it easy.

60ish if I drive granny style.

Thats a 40 mile trip about 50% dual carriageway, 25% town and 25% a road with some overtaking.

I've averaged between 59 and 61 mpg for the last 3 tanks (checked brim to brim)

My computer tells me I've averaged between 74 and 77 mpg

Now with the cooler weather coming I expect this will start to drop but I hopefully will see a 70 mpg next summer on a longer motorway run...

Would a remap improve MPG then?

Ive heard it does?

I drive mine down to 0 quite often (probably too often!) Ever since having my card cloned I pay cash for petrol so if I don't have the money I try not to fill up unless desperate!

The most I have seen on my MPG count is 62-63mpg but over a tank I generally get 45-50mpg average....

This is very intresting seeing what people are getting from their vrs, going to go on a longer trip in next couple of days to visit my friend, see what the trip says then.

David

Funny how some people's trip computers are so optimistic!! over 70 mpg??

I find mind pretty accurate. The best I've had is about 57 mpg on a journey from the computer, and 50mpg over a whole tank calculated myself. Average I find is about 46 (with a fair amount of town driving) which is the same as the trip comp. average was before it reset recently.

Ive got a big trip coming up. I think its about 800+ Mile. Going to the rally of Mull in 2 weeks so Ill see what I get sat behind my mates caravan and will post it on here when I get back

I beleive a remap does actually improve the fuel consumption if you drive it sensible, I'm looking into this at the minute but prob not be till next year till I actually go ahead with it.

David

If I keep the revs below 2.5k when changing up and travel at a constant 60mph my trip reads around 62-68

Be careful of changing too early, and allowing the engine to then labour. You tend to find that increases your consumption.
