clutch lever problem

Featured Replies

hi, the lever on my gearbox witch the clutch cable conects to is unbelievably stiff and has already ruined 4 clutch cables, im not sure what i can do to fix this problem is it a new gearbox or something simple but it really is getting annoying and expensive with new cables lol. any help will be much appreciated thankyou

gareth.

Your clutch should be nice and light when you depress the clutch pedal.

If not, then i would suspect that your clutch has a faulty release mechanism. I would suspect the release bearing.

The other problem could be with how you are fitting the new cable. I went through 3 on an old renault 19 as they were a pig to fit. A genuine renault cable sorted it. Maybe same problem with non genuine part?

Have you tried lubricating the pivot?

Have you tried lubricating the pivot?

:iagree:

that's the first thing i'd do.... it's a gearbox out job tho:O

Look at the bit where the end of the cable goes into the gearbox, get a spray can of WD-40 and get some to keep depressing the cable as you spray in round it
