octavia seats

Featured Replies

I have had both incarnations of the Octavia VRS and both suffer from the same problem, namely seat fraying on the material inserts. I cured the problem on the mark one by dropping a tiny amount of superglue to the fraying weave where the silver mesh is stitched to the leather on the front edge. Sounds silly but believe me it really worked and prevented further fraying. I saw some horredous cases on the old ones.

I found to my horror that my new octy has the same bloody disease. Not so much a fraying, but a furring up of the black mesh. I think the virus has mutated for the new model. So wha can be done? Well I would suggest avoiding wearing outdoor type trousers or shorts with Velcro fastenings on the back pockets, as this was the initial cause of wear on mine. I am really carefull about getting into he damned thing now incase I damage the seats, pathetic eh!

I wondered what could be done to arrest the problem, so I bought some teflon spray and coated the whole seat. Manufacturers spray kids school trousers with this stuff to make them easier to clean, but I am sure I read somewhere that it made the material a bit more resilient to scuffing etc. Anyway one thing I have noticed is that the Alcantara suedy bits have remained pretty clean. I was a bit worried at first because when you spray the stuff on the grey stays darker for a few days.

So go ahead spray away. If you dare!
