Hello! New member & I-pod Query

Featured Replies

Greetings,

I have had my VRs diesel Estate in blue as a new company car for 1 month now. It replaces my own Audi A3 S-line sportback TDi DSG. I loved my Audi- but reckon that the VRs is at least equal- and far less common on the roads! 2,000 miles in and I am continuously impressed!

I previously had a Saab with an AUX connector in the arm-rest. From what I recall, I had a cable that went in the bottom of my I-Pod and then to the jack socket (as opposed to from the headphone output). The advantage of this was that it charged the I-pod on the go and so there was a lot less hassle.

Am I imagining this, or do these cables exist??? If so, can anybody point me in the right direction- I've looked everywhere- but no luck so far.

Otherwise, do I just resign myself to the headphone output to AUX option?

Thanks

Charlie

You can get a Skoda kit which is essentially a Dension Ice Link. You would lose the CD changer connection though.

There are other more expensive options, one from Denison again springs to mind the 400 something IIRC. There are some reviews around here if you search.

You could try this, but it doesn't charge

Maplin > iPod - 3.5mm Stereo Cable

or this could be what you where talking about, not sure if it comes with a 3.5mm cable and pretty sure it doesn't fit all iPods

Amazon.co.uk: TuneFlex AUX for iPod with Dock Connector - Flexible Cradle and Charger for iPod Nano/Mini/Photo/Video/Classic/Touch (Black): Electronics & Photo

Hope this helps

funny you should say that - i wrote this article here, and it describes exactly the cable that would suit your needs:

You could look toward SendStation's excellent PocketDock, plus a good quality 3.5mm jack-jack cable. This would allow you to use the AUX socket, and use the iPod dock connector. This solution wouldn't charge the iPod for you though, I'm afraid. I use one with my hi-fi at home when listing to the iPod and it's a cracking gadget :)

I had the ipod interface kit fitted to my Furby and I'm getting one fitted to my new Octy next friday (dealer is also replacing faulty cruise switch).

I think they are great, and tbh having 5000 tracks on an ipod (can change between the first 5 playlists) is more convient then 6 CD's in the boot which you can't change easy and you still get to use the CD on the head unit anyhow.

I have used both bottom and headphone socket in the Octy 2 and found that both deliver the same sound... No charging available via the AUX socket though.

I use the headphone connection for sound and connect my old Griffin FM transmitter to the bottom of the ipod for charging when required.
