Just bought a vRS.

Featured Replies

I have just bought a red 04 plate vRS yesterday and am vey happy with the car. Its got reverse sensors and cruise control a full service history 1 previous owner and 80k on the clock. Although high mileage for age i dont see it as a problem seeing as i only do 8k per year. i bought the car for £5900 cash which i think is a bargain for the excellent condition of the car. i do have a couple of questions though, one being when does the cambelt need doing? and what is the general consensus on the best tuning upgrade in regards to longevity of the engine etc and not being fussed about the cost involved. anything more than 220bhp and torque would make the car too skitty imo so that the kind of target i am looking at. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Nice deal.

I'd change the belt now just to be on the safe side. And get the water pump done at the same time.

A remap of course. Where are you based?

The cambelt water pump and tensioner are booked in for next Saturday now. I'm based in Milton Keynes so pretty central and easy to get to most places.

Darren,

Why not come to the Rolling Road day at Marlin Engineering in Bletchley next Saturday (6th Oct) and meet a few from the forum, there is a thread running at the moment.

We should still be there after you belt change.

The remap brings the car into its own really, Id definitely recommend it. Unsure though whats available in your area. Actually, the bloke who did mine will do a postal remap.

If you are looking at getting a remap in the near future, then JBS at Chesterfield are doing a special deal on their Custom Code phase1 remaps at the end of Oct. It is certainly worth looking into!!!:D

Well done, enjoy :)

As Beretta said why dont you pop over Marlin Engineering in Bletchley next Saturday (6th Oct) its obviously not far from you and you will get the chance to meet some briskoda members who will be only to happy to discuss mods with you, you will also get the chance to see a few vrs's on the rolling road gonna be a cracking day.

Thanks for all the replies. After trawling through numerous threads and searching the internet, i'm toying with the idea of booking the car in with Jabba sports and getting them to do the cambet, waterpump etc all in the same day. In the end this would be the most viable option as i'd only have to do one trip. I may well be going to the Bletchley meet [i live there] atleast then i can get a base to work on.

Also, a service is a good plan before the remap too.

Good idea

Price from them is not too bad anyway!

Welcome aboard, i'm in Newport Pagnell, have VAG COM etc.

IMO you should go for a remap and a short shifter. That's how I would improve my 04 Octy :-D

Welcome on board!
