Help uning on 2 cylinders problem

Featured Replies

Hi

Just had car serviced by local reliable garage and cam belt change as on 58k. When he ws returning the car it started to run on 2 cylinders. He stopped took it back to garage and waited a couple of minutes. Then car started ok. He did a couple of runs in it and nothing else happened. Engine managaement light came on and he has cleared the faults.

Just been out in it travelled about 6miles stopped and started doing the shoping run than it decided to run on 2 cylinders again. Stopped car for about 2 minutes and it started up ok and ran us home - about 6 miles.

Gargage is having another look on Monday but has any body got any idea what if could be or experienced the same

Car is 1.4 16v year 2000.

which cylinders is it running on??

i'm guessing it's either only running on 1+4 or it's only running on 2+3

could be a dodgey connection or a faulty coilpack

Might be a loose electrical connetion if something was disturbed during the belt change.

Thanks For The Replies - The Garage Said Could Be Faulty Coil Pack - So Its Gong Back In Tomorrow. The Engine Management System Light Has Disapeared About 24 Hours After The Fault Is This Normal.

I Am Really Pleased With This Car And So Was The Garage Said It Was Well Looked After - They Charged Me £200 For Cam Belt Change Oil Air And Pollen Filter Change New Plugs New Orange Indicator Blubs Full Grease Of All Parts Did I Get A Good Deal?

Just a quick reply but not covering all your questions, the fault light will go out if what was causing the fault has gone - this happens 3 or 5 or ? engine starts after the fault "going away".

As for the orange indicator bulbs, well would it not be pretty darn good if someone could identify a brand that actually uses coloured glass instead of the usual dipped in orange glass paint jobbies. I suffered the shame of getting charged for replacing both of the rear bulbs on my wife's 2003MY Polo at its MOT last year - worse than that, I even had a pack of two in the garage - ready for use. These nasty little devils really need taking out and looked at every year and changed every two years - depending of use of course. We live near Edinburgh - Edinburgh motorists don't tend to use indicators - but "we are not of these parts" so tend to use them in the normal way!
