Alloy Help

Featured Replies

I have got Std Skoda alloys on my Furby, I have started to notice recently , when washing that they are staining yellow.

The car is only 3 months old.

What could I use to remove the yellowing ?

Or

Is there a problem with these wheels and should go back to skoda.

Unfortunately the fronts have minor kreb scratches on them, but ALL wheels are yellowing.

all help would be gratefully received. :)

Steve

What are you using to wash them ?

washing with Warm soapy water ( sponge ), then rinse off with warm clear water.

Soapy as in Fairy Liquid ? :nono:

Try some alloy wheel cleaner, should get all the brake and other stuff off. Meguires hot wheels is pretty good, as is wonder wheels. Follow the instructions closely. Dont use washing up liquid ala fairy etc. the chemicals they contain remove wax etc.

Looks like nicotine stains in the corners....yeh I got same problems with mine

Yep, Geoff's right if it's fairy liquid tut tut, but if it is car wash then no problems. Try something like Comma's alloy wheel cleaner to get the alloys clean. Doesn't do too much harm if you have already scraped them.

Mc2 ;)

mr muscle oven cleaner if that does;nt shift it god knows

was advised a long time ago when i worked for car importers NEVER use washing up liquid to wash a car, better to use just water, if there is no car wash.

I use a wash wax car shampoo.

Only ever use CarPlan wash n wax (coz I used to work for em an still have the odd bit knockin about)

I too have noticed the yellow stains. I use "Williams Wheel Cleaner" and an electric toothbrush. Perhaps extreme and some may say lazy, but it does get right into the corners and brings them up a treat.
