Fabia vRS gearbox mount service bulletin

Featured Replies

Hi Veekar. Got mine from Amazon. Don`t know if it`s the right stuff, but aparently it`s popular with scuba divers for sealing cameras and stuff. About £5.50 delivered. Only used half of the tub supplied.

Maybe we should become sole distributors for it and sell it on to Skoda UK. Save all them warranty claims that don`t rectify the fault.

Over and Out!

Err, we talking about the same amazon?

They've got nigella express delivered in time for halloween, I mean christmas.

O.K. you obviously meant Ebay, found some on there!

I did actually do a search on amazon tho... you never know!

If you want to cut out the middleman then go direct. Can`t 100% vouch for this stuff but i was desperate and it appears to have worked.

Activeaqua > Silicone Grease

Thanks for that mate, remember you can use this stuff to do that cage mod on the maf sensor.

Take off sensor lead and apply some grease to the contacts - replace.

Supposed to make idle smoother.

How's yer dogbone?

Think someone's done that already but I might be there too, giving it another last chance to settle down :(

Does that part number from the czech man (sorry forgot your id) relate to skoda parts?

It is available at VW, not Skoda. Just go to whatever VW dealer and order it there. ;)

Thanks for that :)

Any instructions/photos for this. My 2001 Fabia is creaking like hell and the wife is worried!! If I can fix it on the cheap I will be happy

Have you read the rest of the thread? Pictures are included.

Not so sure you'll have the same mount on a 2001 though.

Just one thing, is the creaking you have on a VRS, if not then it will probably be something else (TCA bushes) that are causing your problems, if it is a VRS then sorry for questioning you - just trying to be helpful!

That's why I commented above as the vRS wasn't sold in 2001.

No not a vRS so must be the other fault. The creaking which happened when I went over speed bumps, changed gear (quick on clutch) and braked has changed into a thudding noise over speed bumps and braking. A bit disconcerting!

I'd try taking a look at the anti roll bar bushes.

Thanks guys, I will get it looked at.

do you need to remove both the battery and airbox to do this or just the battery?

You should not be using mineral based grease for this problem as it will slowly rot the rubber component of the the mount. Silicone grease should be used. Even better if Skoda introduced a stiffer modified mount. You can aldeady buy a stiffer Dogbone mount but I don't think a stiffer gearbox mount is available yet.

Well that was great fun.

Easier than I thought tbh.

Just waiting for mother to get home as I just realised I only have lithium grease, so a trip to homebase is needed.
