VRS mpg when mapped?

Featured Replies

Hi all, thinking of having my furby mapped! Just wondered how the mpg suffers? or does it only suffer when having fun? heard can get better mpg during normal driving?

Anyone done any tests?

Cheers Fellas:thumbup:

will be better under normal driving but probably less when booting than it was as standard

Who cares?

When mapped it is still more economical than most other fun stuff out there.

I get approx 45 mpg out of mine no matter how it is driven.

Just drove Plymouth to Salisbury , light right foot max 85mph, 53.6MPH!! This was checked at refullung. 180bhp, Amazing!!

Had mine done for a few weeks only getting high 30's:eek: but i do have a lead right foot:( , on long journeys does go up to 48ish.

Depends how you drive!!!!! If you drive sensibly than there wont be much of a diffference but im guesing if your thinking of a remap your not sensible;)

Paul.

I dont know how some people get 65MPG average?

If I reset the trip computer and do a 40 mile journey of mostly dual carriageway, I get around 52mpg driving like a granny.

42-46 if I drive with a heavy right foot.

Yes, I then drove Portsmouth to North Yorks and got 38mpg:eek: Mind you thats still really good as I only get 28mpg or less in the MR2 Turbo and Prelude 2.2 doing same speeds.

I got 66.8 mpg coming back from Bristol in rush hour last night. It was fairly easy to get to the M5, and the motorway itself helped my economy as all 3 lanes were doing about 60-65 most of the time - so I just sat on the inside lane and pottled along. Eventually the motorway opened up and I was able to sit at about 75 for a fair way. Then I lost my head and blatted up the steep Telegraph Hill, Torquay bound, on full power - I have a bit of a problem with using power on hills when most other cars fail to accelerate. :o The only time my car becomes less economical is at about 90+ or when carrying passengers. It needs more boost to hold higher speeds and this equates to more fuel being chucked in. Still, as Mr G said - For the power, etc you get from tuning a pd130 engine, the mpg doesn't really matter that much. It's just nice to know when you want to drive in a very relaxed manner the car will reward you.

Was that measured by the brim to brim method or was that what the TC was saying. I drove from Edinburgh to Aberdeen and back at 60 - 70 and got 48mpg brim to brim whereas TC said 66 mpg. That also gives you a false estimate of range to go too

It was what the car was telling me, and it's possibly a bit over the realistic range, but I still can get 600 miles from full to totally empty. Usually it's around 550 miles, and a £40 fill-up (so not a full 45 litres - rarely get that close)
