Free Remaps at Bruntingthorpe!

Featured Replies

Anyone fancy a free remap.....?

APR and Awesome will be joining us on Saturday for the track day! They will be taking their tweeked TT on track to show us how its done.....

And they will be bringing laptops to offer all comers a free 6hr trial of the APR tuning software so you can all run quick on the day... Those who wish to buy a full version will be able to buy on the day as well!

I can fully recommend the APR software as I run it on my vRS!

for more info see www.goapr.com

I will be at the national day on Saturday & am looking in to a remap so would be very interested in the 6hrs free trial, I have spoken to some S3 owners that have done this who have heard of issues after the free trial, like the car not feeling as quick as it was before the trial, after it ( I think that makes sense) any of you guys heard of any issues like this?

There have been some probs with other tuners.. but i believe there are ironed out now... it was to do with vw changing the bas map software at the factory... TBH when you have driventhe car mapped you will not want to go back.. and it will fell slow with only 150 / 180 hp.

I would be interested but to my knowledge (not a lot then :D ) APR don't deal with diesels.

  • Author

not yet for diesels.... coming soon....;)

Indeed they don't :( Yet! :D

So, oh great tuners of this world, would it be possible for someone to have the Revo trial in the morning and the APR one in the afternoon? Or are you just asking for the ECU to fry itself? :D

  • Author

erm... i dont know on that question...

I think I might take the precaution of leaving my credit card in the hotel room on Saturday morning :nervous:

must

resist

...

I think I'd better bring my credit card ;) - just in case

@ Jon (TaviaRS)I imagine in theory it is possible; everything is....I want your whale choker as proof

So, just for the sake of argument, on the off chance, if one were to consider this offer (which I wouldn't, odviously) how mush is the said remap?

Not that I'm interested you understand.

Wouldn't even consider it.

Waste of money.

Car is fast enough already.

Never.

NEVER.

NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:mecry:

the demo is free.

for the full remap.. well im sure jim and the boys will be doing a deal for the day but i dont know what it is yet.....

it would also depend on how many programs / features you wanted...

Couple of questions if anyone (ie Paul ;) ) knows:

I would presume if they are loading demo software on, it must be an "off the shelf" map, like, say Superchips, rather than a vehicle specific one?

Is the V-Tune stuff is a bit more specialised than the demo stuff - ie does it need an chip swap or is it all done through the odb port with a lappy?

Paul, when you went apr - did you have to start with a standard chip again or can you start v-tuning an already chipped (eg Jabba) car?

  • Author

Yes it will be an off the shelf map all ODB tuning is off the shelf.

As most tuners have now got the 1.8T sussed there is little need for a rolling road map on an otherwise standard engine - If you do have other mods and wish to tweek the map then you can use the V-tune function via a link cable and a laptop - have a look at mine on saturday:thumbup:

Your laptop, or can we expect your car to be there as well, Paul?

For those that do try the APR software, Paul, will the original software on their ECUs be copied so that the it can be reflashed to the ECU after the trial?

  • Author

i do not know... you would have to ask Jim/ APR that... but i do know they have a backup of my orig program.....?

  • Administrators

they also took a copy of my superchips program, personally I think I should be paying them for the storage of that POS, the worst 24Kb of 1's and 0's ever invented....re what I was saying before with a cooper S + hart conversion...superchips I was hard pushed to keep up... Night and Day.

If your nervous about trail; I have a fairly near stock 1.4 with RS bodykit ;) Also on APR with all the toys. Day Tripper had trial and reverted to Stock, RR results recently had at 179, but then it was regarded that the RR was reading a good few brake under...eg a MKIV Golf that was 250+ on Jabba's rollers in Dec pulled 208. So figures wise it's spot on, if not better. It's the whole trial issue and possibly a sticky wicket *IF* yuo make it one in your mind; but if we worry about all these things you'll have my blood pressure :D

ps my APR on optimax with a few basic mods read 216 :D Happy for passenger rides; if you can cope with Radio 2 at 120+

:jawbig: I've only just seen this!

:flowers: for my Darling

A cynical attempt, I know. but it might work ... :D

Oh she'll get you the remap as an early christmas present  You'll then be persuaded to reciprocate with a new kitchen :(

Cynical? Moi? :D

I could be on dodgy ground with this theory :( . We were supposed to be getting a new bed (quite a splendifirous one, too ...) but Muggins here blew the pot of cash on a camera :banghead:

Dopey?Moi?

I'm sure I can think of something :couple:
