Canon Refurbished Outlet

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of buying a Canon Eos 400d DSLR and have noticed that Canon sell refurbished items direct - each item comes with a 1 year warranty.

Has anybody bought a refurbished camera from Canon / is the £100 saving worth the 'risk' of buying a refurbished camera?

My gut feeling says go for it, but I am interested in others views :)

Cheers

i worked for jessops for two years, and can tell you that you have nothing to fear, they are checked more than new ones, go for it.

Ooooooh, do you have a link for them?

only £100 cheaper though?

only £100 cheaper though?

:(

You can probably haggle as much off a really expensive bit of new kit

Canon operate their outlet through eBay AFAIK.

What's the price you've found? I saw what I thought to be a pretty keen price on one with the basic 18-55, through eBuyer yesterday. Not in the market for one, just spotted it - not a big enough jump from my lovely 350D :D

By £100 I mean £100 cheaper than elsewhere (e.g. circa £340 with lens rather than £450+, against a RRP of £600 I think).

Sorry, should have been clearer. :)

I bought from their Ebay store when I got my Ixus 50.

Ordered about 2.30pm one afternoon, and delivered by 9.30am the next day.

A bit of a mark on the box where the sellotape had been ripped off, but otherwise everything was perfect as far as I could tell.

And of course the price was great!

I'd hunt around for a used 20d or 30d if your budget can stretch a bit. Much better kit. If not, you have no fears buying from Canon but also have a look at some of the retailers who still do used stuff. Mifsuds / Ffordes are both good.

Thanks for the link RobA.

Steve you need a 40D, you know you do. Look into my eyes…………not around my eyes…………..

No thanks, but appreciate you thinking of me ;)

What with cars bits, computers and other associated gadgets, I'm sure my 350 will last me for a good while yet :D

As a Canon Pro CPS card holder I can tell you that the stuff they sell on the outlet site is either Ex Demo kit that has been to trade shows or kit that has been sent back to Canon for replacement due to a fault and repaired by them. Be careful though as some people are bidding silly money for what is effectively second hand equipment..

Canon have a cashback promotion at the moment and there is £50 on the 400D.

The cheapest I've seen is £429 (£379 after cashback) with 18-55 kit lens or £390 (£340 after cashback) body only.

You can find the cheapest UK deals here
