broadband

Featured Replies

I probably rave about these a bit too much but BE have just dropped their broadband prices

24 meg broadband with 1.3meg upload, static ip and no traffic shaping whatsoever plus free wireless modem is now only 18 quid a month:eek: , whats more if you sign up through quidco you get 55 quid cash back.

the pro package has been dropped from 40 quid a month to 22, this includes 2.5meg upload speed for all the big uploaders out there.

I have no affiliation with the company, just a happy user:thumbup:

what and where my man!!

im with talktalk as i used to work for the carphone warehouse and i pay 15 quid for 1mb. but they stop any download sites to the point where you cant even multi play any more!!

now i dont use them allot so until i could find a similar price PM i thought i'd stay with them. but that sounds spot on :)

Sounds like a very good deal. I am currently with BT but will not change just yet :)

Spot on so far for me.

did you get the email, i'm well chuffed their knocking 25% off the price!

I did Mike. Quite surprised.

Not sure whether it's worth upping to Pro, apparently if you increase your upload limit this reduces your download speed. Don't need a static IP either.

i'd have to agree, and with us both being so far away from the exchange i think the download speed is probably worth more than the upload!!!

I notice it says up-to 24Meg broadband - what sort of connection speeds are you actually getting, especially if you're a fair way from the exchange? Certainly sounds like an excellent deal :D

i'm 3km away from the exchange and get about 7 meg download and the full 1.3meg upload, if you compare that to talk talk i got 800k with them:eek:

my brother got about 1.6 meg on bulldog just round the corner!

I could apparently squeeze another meg out of it as there appears to be an issue on my line, i was told by a member of staff to raise a ticket but to be honest i'm pretty happy with 7meg.

Ive found that overall the service from be is amazing, the forum they have is great and the technical knowledge of the people ive dealt with is leagues apart from some of the other monkeys out there!

the online ticket raising is good and responses fast, the texts informing you of outages and payment details is great as well.

mike have to you link to the place i can sign up? i suppose ive got to get to talktalk and get a mac code first>

I am just in the process of leaving Zen internet for this lot, so it shall be an interesting test.

A mate of mine who uses computers heavily raved about them and it also saves me a nice amount of cash :)

That sounds interesting...just checked it's available in Chester :)

I'm already getting 7.6Mbits at the moment...but I'm not very familiar with BE...oh they are owned by O2 but who owns O2 now? BT Still?

www.bethere.co.uk;)

dont forget to use quidco to get 55 quid(50 as joining fee is 5 deducted from the 55 automatically by quidco) cash back

Quidco - Bethere.co.uk

also, dont forget to pm me your name and username after you sign up so we get a free month each:thumbup:

So MikeF, if i give you my be username we both get a month free?

Do I have to wait until I am activated or any other time will do?

I've just checked their website out, and it appears my exchange has not got LLU yet.

Do you know of any websites where I can find out when we are due to be unbundled?

Very interesting, especially with the static IP option which is useful to me. Have been with Plusnet since 2002 and have been happy, but think this might prove too tempting :D

Good shout Mike

Steve

This one is good too.

DSL ZoneUK - broadband for everyone

Your speed will depend upon both the distance from the exchange and attenuation level. This can be predicted fairly accurately using the following chart.

I was getting 2 Mb with BT and now consistently get 6 Mb download as well as the 1.3 Mp upload.

Quick question for the Be converts ;) as I can't seem to find details on their site.

For their 'Be unlimited' package do you know how many mailboxes do you get? I need quite a few, as I have email forwarding setup from domains at the moment, until I get my home email server back online.

Cheers,

Steve

HERE

not looking good :(

Its enabled for AOL

So just out of interest, how does this LLU thing work? I thought it was something that was done to the exchange and that was it, but looking at the link above it seems each provider has to do their own unbundling?

each provider "buys" space at the exchange to install their own kit and infrastructure, so instead of going through BTs network until you get to the ISP, you only use BT service until your connection hits the exchange then your data is handled by the ISp

i think it has to be done within five days of you registering, you register, email me straight away and i forward back to be, although they may accept it if its been longer, no harm in trying!!!;)

you have to pay, 5 email addresses, 1gb storage and 100meg of webspace is £2 a month, you can set up your own email and/or web server though as below

Can I set my own email or web server up while using the Be network?

Yes, providing you only use our services for legal purposes - please see our terms and conditions. If you would like to use your own email server, you’ll need to use our SMTP server for outgoing mail. Please contact us directly for more information. If you would like port 25 unblocked all you need to do is order a static IP from us and your port will be unblocked.
