How do I remove rear seat side bolsters

Featured Replies

Exactly as it says above... How do I get the rear seat side bolsters off on an estate? I think I have a loose cable/wire behind it somewhere that only makes itself known when something or someone is in the seat putting weight on the centre part of the seat and releasing pressure on the bolster.

One of mine fell off once when I was fiddling with the folding seats. To put it on I had to slide it down from the top I think and it clipped in.

Leaning into the car through the rear door , hold the bolster still whilst with the other hand 'bend' it away from the door-side of the car. Be gentle and you'll be able to see how it fastens on.

I've removed mine few times for exactly the same reason (something is making noise behind it). I have the hatchback, not estate, but I think it's the same system.

To remove it, it should be easy. Press it strongly and slide down. You have to apply lot of force on pressing, one hand 5cm from the top and other hand 5cm from the bottom. Then just slide it down while pressing and it will come off.

To pu it back you'll understand that it has two extremly strong clips. Top clip will get in but bottom one will not. So, just pressing on the same places and sliding it up will not clip it in. I found the only possible way to do it. For the bottom clip you have to put big screwdriver between the bolster and the clip, moving the clip away from the bolster. Keeping it that way do the sliding and it will clip in. At the first time it took me a while and it went in after few times trying.

Yet, I hope we are talking about same part. It's part that has the same size as the back part of the rear seat, like extension between the back side of the seat and the door, isn't it?

If the noise stops when the seat is folded down it could just be the rubber stops need adjusting.

Where are the rubber stops ? Mine is making the same noise.

Thanks, I'll look for them

THanks guys... was out yesterday so didn;t have chance to check replies. I'll have a look at sliding it down (and the rubber stops) but I'm pretty certain it's a cable/tube somewhere back there that's rattling.
