Bumper dent!!

Featured Replies

My pride and joy has suffered a minor dent ( more of a crease actually) on the rear bumper from flying debris. There is no paint damage and my wife says she can't even see it but i'm drawn to it by the change in relection it causes. Given that the bumbers are quite flimsy will paintless dent removal work??

I think most companies only remove dents from metal (doors, bonnets ect) - don't see how your gona get a crease out of plastic. It can't hurt to phone some of the mobile companies tho. I've had a "carpark" dent taken out by dent wizzard, the finish was amazing leaving no mark at all  .

As for wives and cars, most of them cant see if one side was caved in, but if you spill some beer on the couch and leave the smallest stain she'll spot that from next doors living room!

Hope you manage to fix it.

If they can't pull out a dent, they'll fill it, sand it down with some lovely 800.... degrease it, dry it... spray .. followed by Laquer and then heat it :D

Try a hairdryer first.

Good advice

Bumpers are very flexible and respond well to a heat massage :)

This is the SAME bumper.......

Like i thought :)

Obviously the cracks had to be fixed on mine but heating it 'popped' it more or less back into shape...

Good result all the same :)

Try a hairdryer first.

Hold it atleast 30 cm's back though, otherwise you won't like the effects.

Hi I've tried the hairdryer after watching an episode of wrecks to riches!! where they got a dashboard to remember its previous shape! but it didn't get hot enough.

If i can find a more powerful hairdryer how hot can you risk getting the bumper before it effects the paint?

Had another go with the hair dryer with no success! its only a tiny crease but its so noticable to me, but not my wife! How hot do you need to get the bumper so that it remembers its previous shape?

Just leave the hot air gun away from the bumper or you will burn the paint:)

Hiya mate, i'm an instructor for Dent Wizard and whilst our methods are aimed at metal the same process can be applied to plastics with heat. Just heating the area will usully only 'pop' the dent leaving stresses so you would need to tool the area as well. Do you have a picture of the damage? I'd help you out if you want.
