Somebody has keyed the Furby... Not amused!

Featured Replies

Totally gutted - some fu*king cowardly little ***** has keyed pretty much the entire length of the nearside of the vRS - only noticed it today but it wasn't there a week ago when I washed it. :( The scratch starts just under the handle of the rear passenger door and runs right along the rest of the car, across the front passenger door and the full length of the wing. Three panels, all of which look like they will need respraying. I'm so fu*king depressed about it, it's untrue! It looks like a pretty half hearted attempt at a scratch - the panels aren't dented and the scratch isn't down to the metal, but they are down to the white primer(?) and it looks like total ****. I'm so annoyed right now, I could fu*king just about explode!

What I'm most annoyed about is the fact that I've been an idiot and have not been parking my car down the drive - I've gotten into a habit of leaving it parked on the kerb outside my house as we have 3 cars in the family and it's a ballache moving them all out if the one parked at the back of the 3 wants to get out! From now on it's staying down the drive though, I'd rather have a bit of inconvenience than damage to my car. I'm assuming it's been done outside the house, but I do use a public car park when I go to work so it could have been done there.

So - the big question to anyone who knows about these things... am I going to need a full respray on every panel or do you think the scratches might polish out? And if a respray is required, any ideas what that's gonna set me back? The car is a 54 plate and the colour is metallic black magic.

My bro works for Alex Lawrie Skoda in Liverpool so he is going to get a quote for me on Monday, but I'm thinking dealer prices may be pretty high... So, so gutted about this! I've not had the car long and some jealous little numbnuts has obviously taken exception to the fact that it's a nice car... It's pretty strange though as I don't really live in a **** area - quiet side road really, but a lot of little scallys walk up and down it throughout the day...

Anyway, sorry, just needed to vent.

Gutted for ya mate

they need their hand cut off !

Im sorry to hear about it, its one thing i dread coming out to in the mornings.. I bet you love to get hold of the scum and key him ;)

sorry to hear - nice to hang the little ****s

If it's not down the metal you may find a decent repair can be done without the need for a full respray. Fingers crossed. :)

sorry to hear about that bud,we have the phantom tyre slasher on our street so i know how it feels,he's got me twice in the past 6 months.

If the scratch isn't down to the metal or the primer with a hell of a lot of hard work it may polish out,the wife scraped a wall in her car a couple of months ago and it looked quite bad,but three hours of polishing later and its good as new,i would recomend megs scratch polish, its available at halfrauds and has to be worth a go,but it will take a while.

Good luck and hope you catch the moron responsible.

Try a bit of meguirs scratch x on it mate... best stuff ive ever used.

thats what its called cheers joel that was the one i was trying to remember:thumbup:

GRRRRRR I am annoyed for you!! I would chop the barstewards hands off

I'm surprised they have done it because personally I cant see people thinking "These flashy gits with their flashy Skodas" and giving it a key

Peiople keep stealing my dust caps no matter where i park!!!! small things ****ing annoy me so much. Just gonna buy plastic ones after this. Fuming for you fella!

Reason for this, i polished out scratches today using turtle wax wax stick and polish. If the scratch is not too deep it is just the trick!

Sorry for you Mikey, It is so damn annoying, property that belongs to you is destroyed by some scrote, and at some self expence to repair

I do not know how to repair it economically, but I would not use the wax stick as that is just cosmetic, and after the next wash you are back at square one

Just checked it properly in the daylight... it looks pretty ugly, like, but it's just down to the white - no dents or metal showing anywhere - like I said, it's a pretty half-hearted attempt at a scratch, but it's too damn long for it not to have been done on purpose. Gutted. Feel so angry that some little numbnuts would do this to someone else's property! Gonna get some quotes for repairs tomorrow and get it sorted sometime in the week...

To be fair though, I should have seen something like this coming - as I've said, my bro works for Alex Lawrie Skoda, and his demonstrator for quite a while was a blue Roomster with a lot of Alex Lawrie decals on it. The first week he had it some little **** keyed it along the 4 offside panels. After it was repaired someone slashed the front tyres when it was parked outside his girlfriend's house. Not long after that someone put a small dent in the front wing. I always assumed it was some thick tw&t who was offended by the decals on it, but now mine has been done also, I just think it might be some ignorant, small minded thug with the intelligence quotient of a probiotic yoghurt and all the inate loveability of an itchy verruca. Oooh... I'd love to get hold of whoever it was and give 'em a ****in good shoeing!

Mate, I know just how you feel - my car was keyed right down both doors and the rear panel when it was three months old.

It was down to the primer as well, looked awful :(

I had it resprayed at a local bodyshop for about 200 quid.

Thanks man - hopefully I'll get it sorted as cheap as that... I was expecting something like a £500 repair bill to be honest though. Scum aren't they mate?

Absolutely - should be strung up!

Skoda dealer quoted about 800 quid

Skoda dealers can try and drop your knickers on bodywork but they can be really inconsistent. Dealer in York quoted £130 to take the rear bumper off and re-spray it. Dealer in Leeds quoted £290 plus vat for the same thing. Daft.

Do feel for you though mate. We had a spate of some little ****s kicking off the missus wingmirrors as the car was parked on the road in front of the house. We even saw some of them doing it once and followed them in the car as we called the coppers. Nothing came of it though as it took the plod 45 minutes to turn up. I should've told them we had them at gunpoint or something.....they'd have been a little quicker then me thinks.

But, they did see us following them and on the phone and they never did it again.

I'm surprised they have done it because personally I cant see people thinking "These flashy gits with their flashy Skodas" and giving it a key

Unfortunately there are many people in this world who are unable to afford driving lessons due to spending their Job Seekers Allowance on cigs, booze, drugs etc. Even if they could afford lessons they wouldn't have the brains to manage to pass the test, and they probably never have any reasonable prospect of getting a job or owning any kind of car. Therefore they spend all day taking their drugs and drinking booze while watching Jeremy Kyle etc (instead of at work) then at night walk around and have nothing better to do than cause damage to other people's property and for some completely non understandable reason they get pleasure out of it. I'd like to see how much they enjoy it when they get their balls ripped off as payback.

Surely you followed them home and assuming they were under the legal age gave their parents a right earful?! Either that or tried to run the c**ts over and give them a real scare. Knowing the kids round my area they'd be excited they're being chased or even start throwing stones etc so would need a little more to dissuade them, good thing it did the job though!

I have been considering getting a CCTV camera to point at my car, but no doubt a) the quality would be insufficient for a prosecution and B) the police wouldn't care anyway. If anything happens to the car I'd have a bl***y good idea who it was anyway. Luckily I've only had eggs thrown at the car so far.

Sadly not. They all disbanded as soon as they realised what waas going on and headed in different directions, so it would've been a case of picking one to follow.

Giving em a good hiding wasn't really an option either. There was about 6 of them and they were about 16/17. Now one or 2 wouldn't be an issue, but any more of that and you've got problems, especially if you and up taking it to the deck and one of the others sticks the boot in. Not only that but I'd end up with more legal problems than them for dishing out punishment. The law in this country that is meant to protect victims only seems to do the opposite.

I know how you feel. Some brainless tw*t did the same to my wifes felicia . Luckily it wasn't my VRS but I was still gutted. Although 5 years old it was immaculate with a genuine 15k only on the clock.

Like yours it was down to the white primer. Turtle Wax colour coded & wax crayon proved a good temporary fix after several coats but I dont think it will be a very long term fix without fortnightly polishing !!

Hope you resolve yours and the gits hands drop off!!

bring back stoning I say. Little tw**ts

My girlfriend's Polo has been done twice since she got it back in May. Both times at the train station as she leaves it there to go to work. Happened to my first car too a good few years back. It's one of the most frustrating things to come out of the house and see a whacking great scratch down the side of your motor. Little ***** should be strung up.

Hope it doesn't cost too much if you need a respray.

Quoted £550 from Skoda for a respray. They ain't got a bodyshop - that's for one that they use. So I phoned that bodyshop and they quoted me around £300 (and that's a worst case scenario of all 3 panels having to be resprayed). So Skoda would effectively get £250 for the simple act of driving my vRS to the offsite bodyshop and driving it back when it's repaired. OK - they might give it a cursory once over with a hoover and a bucket and sponge, but most of it would make the bulging wallet of Skoda even fatter.

Bo!!ocks to that, hahaha! I'm going to get it sorted this week hopefully so the car will be as good as new in no time.

Guys - you don't have much faith in our legal system do you? To be fair, neither do I and I actually am a cop! Come to think of it, that's probably why my car has been keyed in the first place, haha! The problem doesn't lie with the majority of police - it's the CPS who decide on whether there is enough evidence to charge. I'm too young in service in the police to be cynical, but I can assure you, there are a lot of cops like me who just want to lock up ****bags and not get sidetracked with beauracracy and BS. If I was called out to an incident of criminal damage to a vehicle, I would do everything I could to get it sorted for the victim of the crime (as I myself know how it feels), but sometimes, when there's nothing to go on, it can feel like a waste of time. Ironically, I'm not reporting this to the police, because what's the point? A bored-looking cop will come out, take details for a crime report and the incident will merely be another unwitnessed, undetected criminal damage for the stats. I'll just get the damage sorted and hope it doesn't happen again.

Cheers for the advice and support again guys - it did make me feel better!

Mike
