vRS Hatch vs. Estate

Featured Replies

.... reasonable country run before getting stuck in Dublin traffic on my commute, so hopefully that will keep the DPF happy...

Should do.

I (relatively) have the same journey coming into NW London every day; just remember to use full throttle from time to time , which shouldn't be difficult. :D. Not a peep from my DPF in 11,500 miles

I prefer the lack of spoiler TBH

Re: DPF, since chipping it has triggered once in 5mo / 5k miles, but it just requires you to drive for 20 mins above 2k rpm to burn off residue of soot, then light goes out.

I had been doing some low speed, short runs with rich fuel mix (ie "sooty" if DPF wasn't there)

Is that photo the right way around; it looks like you have Left Hand Drive and a unique exhaust on the right? or do my eyes deceive me.

Nice car mind (although I prefer the hatch).

Flipped in a photo package is my guess.

Do you mean the spoiler on the hatch ? It is one of the things that put me off a little too. Not that I don't like it, but because I think it can attract unwanted attention at times.

Lovely looking car there VRS195. It's making me impatient waiting for mine to arrive :-(

Yes, and thanks!

I think the spoiler on the hatch spoils the lines and looks a tad Impreza (that's half the forum going to flame me now )

Also in estate form if you squint you can almost see the more expensive four-rings of the VAG dynasty ;).

PS - yes the picture is flipped - took the picture with the car pointing the "wrong" way, so flipped it.

Personally I can't stand the combi, as it just looks like another estate car.

I like m hatch because it looks the part as well as goes.

Each to there own I suppose.

I think estate's grow on you. I probably wouldn't have looked twice at one myself until I found a need for my last estate. Now an estate is my first choice. But of course the vRS isn't just another estate. I'll be quite happy for most people to think it is though.

That age old question of want vs. need.

My wife's car, a FIAT Doblo, acts as the family estate, so my Octy Hatch is just for 'normal' duties. Mind you unless you are into carrying wardrobes or something it is surprising how much you can get into the hatch.

That age old question of want vs. need.

Hmm... not always so... I personally have always preferred the 'shooting brake' or estate look for tin top cars - they just look more resolved and more of a piece to me that saloons do.
