Sounds Good.

Touch screen, sd card slot and 30Gb storage:thumbup:

Is this what Stu has?

A.K.A. MFD3. At least 2 lucky beggars have it on here but I think only Stu has the proper Skoda unit.

Will this part be available to order from the dealers on it's own?

Now where's my wallet.......:D

If they are the proper Skoda prices then I guess the MFD2 will reduce in price or is being discontinued.

It is a lovely bit of kit. Any idea on availability?

OMG! Me wants one!!(as he reaches for his credit card :D)

Hmm, think the remap might have to wait...:rubchin:

oops

Considering the MFD2 is still £1650 + disc as a dealer fitted part methinks the MFD3 would be uber pricey if available at all :(

Been down to the dealer this morning, the parts guy didnt really know if the £1500 RRP quoted was the price for factory or retro...useless as always.

It will most likely be factory fit.

I would imagine the MFD3 will be pricey as a retro fit. The retro of the MFD2 is £300 over and above the factory fit cost.

I would expect the MFD3 to be around the £1800 mark as a retro.

Thats a good price for a factory install as it includes the cost of MaxiDot which is what £180??

I guess as a retro it would need to be ordered as a spare part so you'll need the part number of one to find out.

Hmmmmm, I wonder who may have a part number for this mr Stu :)

I presume the standard Maxidot on the L&K is why the MFD3 is £120 cheaper.

If it was available when I ordered mine I would have gone for it :thumbdwn:

It also has the diversity antenna setup which is ideal for me as I originally had the Audience head unit :thumbdwn:

I'm interested to know about the Diversity Antenna myself.

I think this is the part number - 1Z0 035 680 A

two things of interest...

1. The system also supports DVD-Video playback (when vehicle is stationary)

I assume a switch can be modified to bypass this functionality

2. Two aerials for improved radio signal receiving.

Perhaps with the MFD3 i will be able to listen to more than just BBC Radio 1 ?

Not forgetting with two aerials it will also start looking like a taxi?

There are devices being marketed in the usual places to achieve the video in motion.

I'd like to know the location of the second antenna, I heard that VW were mounting them in the door mirror but I don't know how much truth is in that.

On the estate there is a second aerial in the rear glass

Yep, the 2nd aerial is in the rear offside boot window on the estate, looks a little like a heated rear window element albeit a funny shape, there are 2 FAKRA plugs behind the dash as well, the MFD2 only supports 1 of them.

As for the hatch - I can only assume it is in the same-ish place.

You'll need a more sophisticated box of tricks to fool the unit into thinking you are parked when in fact on the move.

This thread may help.

Seems well cheap compared with what you got with the MFD2!

So is this MFD3 option now available?

Yes Martin that's what the bulletin that Ants posted states .

Available on the Seat Leon/Altea too now, WITH Bluetooth functionality.

I've seen Stu's and havent stopped twittering on about it since!! I think it is one of the best factory units i've seen. Now if I can only persuade SWMBO that "she" cant live without one.......!

The new in dash sat nav in the VW Iroc looks smart, apparently wont be altered for production.
