New Tyres for Octy vRS,which ones should I go for?

Featured Replies

They also last pretty well too for a `sporty` tyre.

They should last you 100.000 miles the way you drive.:gay::P;):D.

these seem good esp if it does snow and you live in area prone to bad weather thats not gritted as I do..

They are a brand new tyre available in the UK in November.. Around the same price as the Toyo T1R's too..

UPDATE:

Ive replaced my factory Pilot Exaltos with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 XL's this week and I can so far confirm the following:

They are a little noisier (but not by much)

They seem to be more communicative ie you can feel the road more through the steering wheel and seat. (no, honestly!)

Turn in is without doubt sharper and vastly improved; probably due to the stiffer sidewalls on the Sport 2 XL's (Xtra Load).

They are undoubtedly more grippy in the dry - you can feel them biting more under hard acceleration.

So far I havent had a chance to drive in the wet with them but this was the main reason for the upgrade so my fingers are crossed. :)

Hope that helps,

Lee

I've just put a set of Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on mine. They are very good indeed although I haven't had the chance to have a play in the wet yet.

I rotate my tyres so that I can replace them all at once. Means you don't spread the cost but means you can change make and brand without mixing.

Well they did say you should be smooth and progressive at the HPC day :P

where did you go for the Vredesteins? did you have to order them or were they in stock?

cheers

If they are any where near as good in the wet as the last two sets of Vredestein Hi-trac's we've had on the Fabia you will be very pleased! they have proved excellent wet/dry or snow!

Just had a look at my 57 reg Octy Vrs , its got "MICHELIN PILOT EXALTO" 225/40 ZR18 , are these any good ?

Dont wanna know how much these will cost to replace

I had these (Pilot Exalto 2) fitted to my vRS with dealer fit B14 style 18s from new; if vRS are coming out out of the factory with them now that IMHO is good news.

I have just done 10,000 on mine and, measuring, the tread depth every 2,500 miles, reckon that they will be good for 18-20,000 on the fronts and 30,000 miles on the rears. As for noise, grip etc. etc. I reckon they are pretty good (used them on my Fabia previously).

£99 a corner from Tyrespot in Newcastle, balanced and fitted. They ordered them in for me.

Got the Bridgestone Potenza RE050-A on my O2 225/45 R17 - must say a perfect tyre - great grip on dry and a cloud of water leaving behind the car on wet - a really really great tyre!

Have used Avon ZV3's on my Octavia, a big improvement over the Dunlops in terms of grip, wear and noise and managed toget them for £70 balanced and fitted !
