to spend on something 'Focus/Golf/Astra' sized, brand new (no nearly new's, ex-demo's etc...), deliver's 30mpg+, reasonable insurance group (10 max)... What would you go for in today's market???

Edit: Oh yeah, and as fun a drive as possible :D

Fiat bravo 1.4 t-jet sport (150bhp)

0-62 in 8.5.... 40 mpg. low emmisions...

git in there!!!!

edit: you might not get the t-jet for £13k actually, but they are all heavily discounted......

Would you not get better VFM on a pre reg?

Are they 13k, thought they were around the 15-16k mark ????

Funnily enough I thought of you when an old school mate of mine asked me this question at a wedding this weekend...... After much deliberation I came up with a GP Sporting as my answer :D

Thing is, it got me thinking.... is there too much choice out there for the average motorist these days ???

Drive the deal have Hatchback Octy 1.8T FSI Ambiente 5dr for 13k

See above answer.... its not for me, its based on a question asked to me.. Pre reg was suggested but it had to be a new un'

Like I said just got me thinking....

Sounds good (Are they around the 16k mark normally?), the 1.8T FSI has had nothing but decent write up's from what I've seen....

if you could go a little smaller, my money would be on a suzuki swift sport or fiat panda 100hp

If I had that money, Hyundai i30 is unbeleivably generous kit wise, but I would only suggest if you were keeping it for the long term,

Or if you hold back you can buy a used one next year for about £3.50:D

Panda 100, as Fluff has already suggested. Fully loaded with every extra for 13k too :)

Not that im a lover of French cars but.. how about the C2 3 Door 1.6HDi 16 VTS @ £13495?

How much is the new Fiat 500 going to be or maybe a new Mini?

Panda 100HP would take some beating in my mind too...

On this topic and especially about Fiats.

Fiat are now offering a 0% finance on all models but obviously certain engine sizes.

Worth a look.

What would you go for in today's market???

With similar criteria I ended up with a Micra - surprisingly spacious, well-equipped and versatile, Gp 6 insurance and good economy, gets 4 (out of 5) stars from Evo and quite a bit below budget too...

Or, with Skoda hat on, how about a Fabia?

Rob.

3.5 stars on the revised Evo scoring Rob...

I prefer the original score (which they've still got on the review on the website)... ;)

Rob.

panda, micra, Fabia, C2 - may be good cars, but they're not

Focus/Golf/Astra sized, as mentioned in the OP

Then again, it might be found that the Panda interior space proves sufficient....

Still worth consideration, IMO.

I don't see how you can have the cheek to post on this thread i.e. you never have 13k cos you're too busy spending it on mods / yet another car :P

Reminds me somewhat of someone very close to home with a hole burning in his pocket :(

Oh look, another not very constructive post from Mr Mouse!

Come on then, what's your 13k suggestion?

:P

13 1k cars

Suzuki Swift Sport

maybe, possibly, forgetting history Punto Grande

Kia, Hyundai - see other post - am sure you have Oh Pedantic, Oh So Serious for 20 odd yr old one :P:D:thumbdwn::eek::P
