Flywheel probs?

Featured Replies

My car is in the garage as we speak getting a sachs clutch put in finally as iv been getting some clutch slip when foots right down and doing 2250-3250 revs.

The mechanic had just rang and told me the DMF is nackered and he's not happy puttin it back in. He said the clutch looks as good as new but there is loads of play in the flywheel and if he leaves it in the '3 o'clock postion' it will swing down to '6 o'clock position on its own'. Hes quoted an extra £300 for the supply and fitting of the Flywheel. Is this a good price?

Also i wud have liked a SMF put in but iv got the wrong clutch for the job!

Could it have been the flywheel all along causing my slippage problems? I didnt no if it was worth just getting him to fix the Flywheel and leave the original clutch in the and stick the sachs clutch on ebay, What do think guys?

Can you not send the new clutch back, and fit a SMF and uprated clutch at the same time?

Iv had the clutch for some time tho thats the problem. Everythime i mean to get it done something comes up and i need the car or cant afford it!

Personally, while the box is out now, id do it right ths time, instead of £300 for a flywheel, then maybe a few months later having to pay to take the box out again because the clutch is worn...

SMF, urprated clutch, and flog the sachs one on Brisky/Egay

cheers mate

if there is that much free play in the DMF , its almost definetly knackered , and never put an old clutch back on even if you think its ok
